In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I usually do the papertowel thing too. All the pet stores around me have ridiculous prices just for some moss.

Right now, I dont have any pics of my cage but its pretty simple to.
*hide
*water bowl
*food bowl
*sand
*and sometimes a hanging plant

Here's a list:
- dry hide (cave is good)
- food dish
- water dish
- calcium dish
- humid hide
- substrate OTHER than sand
- whatever other decorations you or your leo might like.

I say substrate other than sand because sand (even calcisand that the manufacturers SAY is safe) can cause impaction in your leo's bowels and can kill them. It's better to use ceramic/slate tile, repticarpet, or even just papertowels or newspaper. (We use papertowel in ALL our leo enclosures.)

A humid hide doesn't necessarily have to be expensively outfitted either. You can use a plastic lunch container with a hole cut in the top for access and about an inch or so of damp peat moss. Any tupperware-type container will do as long as your leo can climb onto it easily, and peat moss costs us about four bucks for a full bag at WalMart (just look in the gardening section.) It's a good idea to keep a humid hide in with them at all times -- that way (as a general rule) you have no worries about shed problems.

Any other decorations can be whatever you like, as long as you have your leo's basic needs met. We often put a rock or two (cleaned and sanitized) in with ours to rub against when they're shedding. Other hides just give them more variety to choose from, and plants (real or fake) can look pretty -- just make sure they can't climb out on them!

Here is Clydes enclosure, i dont have a pic of Bonnies right now but its basically the same just diff. hides. I know my temps look a little low but I had just changed out the tile. I am going to add things this summer, although I am not sure what yet or how much. Anyway enjoy.

You don't have to use paper towel or peat moss for the humid hide. Check out Bed-a-Beast or similar Coco-husk products at the pet or gardening store. They come in a compressed brick that you add water to to separate it. They run around $2-3 a piece and make a lot of bedding.

Brian,

That is one awesome looking enclosure. I looked at all your pictures and it's no wonder you had successful breedings with such an elaborate set up. I'd imagine your geckos are pretty happy in there. I have a couple questions.

I love the pebble covered plastic humid hides. What kind of glue did you use to put the rocks on them?

In this picture of the cricket bin, what are they all climbing on in the upper right?

Thanks

aquarium silicone:)
It is a piece of tree bark thingy.

Thanks for the compliments.
The cage is made with plexiglass doors and that make sit to where you can interact with the geckos better.
When I open the door I usually have about8 geckos wanting to be hand fed. It is cool. I keep the babies (and extra adult males, which I rotate into the enclosure) in the rack below the main unit. The way I keep the mothers/babie str8 is that the mother will sit on the egss awhile after she lays em and I check the hides every morning and every night after work. So I know which mother laid which eggs, it's not 100% but I am not breeding any high dollar gex.

ok i got rid of the sand ...i got some nice ceramic tiles...and im gonna get another cave for a humid hide ...even tho she dosen't hide much ...and get rid of the tube and maybe get some leafy stuff

I was keeping my leos in here....

But they seem to tire of swimming quickly. So I built these to keep them in,

they seem to like these better.
Just getting started with my new camera, man these new digiatal cameras are SMALL.

Here's Lousaka's pad.

Very basic Humid hide and a couple of dry hides. Food and water dish, uth, and paper towel for substrate. No complaints from him so far.

Well i guess it's time for mine, since moving from...
NewHide004.jpg

to this
000_0296.jpg

she is more "playful" as in when i go to pick up her crix, she's always trying to climb on my hand, and she's out more, and oh yeah SHE'S A HOG, she eats about 5-6 crix on average, but one night she ate 10, she's about 4 years old....since moving from the sterilite to the cage, she's put on almost 7g, which is strange i think it's the crix, cause in the tote, all she'd eat was mealies...BTW, no more mealies have been fed to her, but when i did get a few silkies for my crested she ate them, where she would not eat them before, most of the ones from before died, so i think she knew there was a problem with them....but on the bottom left is her humid hide with eco-earth in it, which she stays in most of the time, bottom middle is her warm hide, and top left is her cool hide, i have since taken out the middle hide because, well she doesn't fit in it lol....have you guys noticed yours likes to be sprayed, i missed her humid hide one day when i was holding it up and misting, and she arched up and bent her tail down, but kept walking into the spray, i decided to mist her lastnight for fun, and she started running towards me and climbed ontop of her humid hide and kept jumping at the water, but when i stopped she kept waving at me so i did it again....

everyones cages look great! thanks for posting
