I really want to get a ball python. I am trying to decide between a pied ball or a BEL ball python. What do you think I should go with? BEL, meaning blue eyed leucistic.

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I used to think pieds were really ugly until we got one, now I think they're awesome. The pattern gets so distorted and makes like a pixelated area between the white and color. Every single one is a little bit different, they're really interesting to me.
On the other hand, every BEL we have is super friendly...not sure if there's any science or trend there or if we just got lucky with ours. I'd definitely look at a bunch of pictures before making a decision and ideally see both types in person.
It's not like "Pieds are better than BELs" or vice versa, it's all on what your preference is. If you like the really high white, you might want to check out spider pieds (spieds, white wedding). They're almost all white but usually have some black left on their head. Not sure on current prices though so they might be a little much

Thanks for your input. They both are beautiful morphs. I will check out the spider pieds too. I am leaning towards a BEL just because of those beautiful blue eyes though. Vin Russo and VMSherp have some.

Super russos (white diamonds) are supposed to be the whitest of the BELs. We have a couple russo x lesser combos and they're extremely clean and white. I sent you a PM so you might want to check that out, unfortunately I have homework due in a couple hours that I haven't started so I don't think I'll be able to respond until later

I never liked pieds either...until Steve M started posting pics of that mojave pied. After that, it took me quite a while to find two that I liked enough to buy (and it was only fitting that I got the male from Steve, lol).
I'm a picky bass turd, anyway; but I think I was worse than usual with the pieds because the morph itself didn't really appeal to me. If that doesn't make sense, think about trying to find a pied you like when you don't like pieds...

Harald, what is the combo for that guy? He looks more like an ivory (or invisiball?). I personally don't like the pure white BELs either, I'd much rather have something like a mystic potion.
