The first time I ever cared for a reptile was when I was 21. A friend of mine needed me to care for her 17' burm while she was in between housing. Also, during that time I rescued two ball pythons and found them good homes. I was living in a tiny 8'x10' room in Oakland, California and housing three snakes!
That was a fun time for me and a good learning experience. I have always wanted some critters of my own, but my nomadic lifestyle had never allowed for that to be possible.
Flash forward ten years; I got a job working for the carnival. While traveling with the carnival I was offered a job working with show animals. I cared for a male burm, albino turtle, two-headed turtle and a conjoined turtle. It has truly been a joy working with the public and educating them about these special animals. I have met a lot of friendly people and exceptional showmen along the way.
Now I am married and looking to go into business for myself. I want to continue to travel with animals entertaining and educating people about these special creatures.
My wife and I have just returned from living in Costa Rica. No need for pets there as there are huge Iguanas, giant toads, and monster snakes right on your doorstep! I could have gone without all the scorpions in my condo, but I enjoyed all my chirping gecko house guests.
Currently I am looking for an interesting ball python morph for my first pet, but I am always on the hunt for strange and unusual reptiles. I don't have $17k to spend on an albino gator though!
I'm happy to be a member of this site as I feel it will be a great resource. I look forward to getting to know new people and make some interesting friends along the way.
Thanks-Steve
