    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

please help retic problem

1. Does a animal with bad skin problems have the boid viral diease I keep hearing about?.. How would I tell? As a added note the snake is in quartine at a family members house since I bought it. Since I keep more expensive boas at my house and I shower and change clothes after working with it.
It broke out last month with a cest with sticky pus coming out it was clear. Next thing I know he is covered in them.. They are now gone cept he has not shed cept his head and underbelly. He has open sores and I soak him in benadine since his vet appt is thurs. Also he smacks his head into the wall of his cage when I walk by now and won't eat why does he do this?is this ibd? He use to not care when I came into the room... never had the problem with getting him out... Is he just sore?

Probably not IBD. Just an extremely screwed up snake, not cared for at all by its previous owner. You bought it like that, or did all this happen after you got it home? You need to take it to a vet immediately. That's the only way to get it thoroughly assessed and proper treatment started.

I'm no expert on IBD. But from the description, I'd say blister disease from one or more bacterial species. This is a life-threatening ailment. Treatment includes systemic antibiotics, warmer than normal temperature to stimulate the snake's immune system and inhibit bacterial growth, and a dry cage with newspaper (or similar) floor covering. Betadine is helpful, though I prefer the cream to the liquid.

Going off food isn't uncommon in sick snakes.

Good luck with the vet.

Disclaimer: I am not a veterinarian. I'm just a herper who has seen similar symptoms in some of my own snakes.
