    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Please HELP!

Hello. My little Leopard Gecko Gexie was caught breathing funny last night. Earlier in the day I had heard what sounded like birds right in my house, not knowing what it was I figured maybe it was and blew it off. Then later at about 5:00 this morning my Gexie was about to shed we had noticed and I picked him up and held him. It sounds like he was having breathing problems. Not a wheezing though, just a cracking through his ear holes that sounded like birds to me! Hes not breathing like this all the time either, just certain small spans of breathing like this. Then he goes back to normal. He just had a perfect shed. He eats good, all poops are normal and hes kept between 75 to 78. I put some Flukers all Reptiles vitamins in his water last night, and am running a humidifier in the room hes in now. Has anybody ever had this problem, any suggestions??? Thank You!

Hi,
If he is being kept at only 75 to 78 you really need to raise those temps, he could have a respiratory infection too by the sound of it. The temps on the warm side should be between 88 and 93. The cold side should be about 10 degrees less or room temperature. So you need to get him to a herp vet and have him checked for a respiratory infection. They do make a funny noise when they breath when they have ri. But yeah please raise those temps, thats way too cold for him and do you have a humid hide? That Flukers stuff is also crap, you should use T rex bone aid for something along that line for pure calcium and then a multivitamin and d3 once a week, I use reptivite for that and haven't had any problems. About how old is your leo?

Oh and don't run the humidifier in the same soom as him, too high humidity is also a major cause of RI. They only need about 30% humidity, 50% at the very most. Thats the reason for the humid hide, to provide them with small amounts of humidity when they feel they need it. That way they can escape to a dry area after using it to shed or just laying in it.

Ok, Thank You! I haven't had heat all summer and have kept my apartment at what I posted. It used to be higher then that until I got my Rats. Gexie is a Juvi. I am selling my piece of crap car that doesn't run anymore to a Junkyard and am getting two hundred for it so they will all have under tank heating pads within the week. I am SO happy about that!! Right now he is on a human heating pad when we are home. Question about the heating though. What exactly do I have to buy for him??? If I get an undetank heating pad is anything else neccessary is what I'm asking?? Exp:Basking lights, anything else. As for the Vet I checked into that before I posted this morning. I am still looking. Gggrrrrrrrrr! I just have SO much going on right now. Well, I hope everything gets better. Is there anything else I can do for him before the Vet???? I just feed him two wax worms tonite. Hes got the heat for now. He poops and eats and sheds perfect. I am trying to be preventive of anything getting worse. Thank You guys SO much for helping me out! I really appreciate Gexie means a lot to me.

Good i am glad you are getting him the proper heating equiptment. What you will need is and under tank heater that covers 1/3 of the bottom of the tank. Not sure what size your tank is. Then you will need a thermostat or a rheostat. Thermostats would be better becuase the automatically regulate the temp for you, the rheostat is just like a dimmer switch and turns down the amount of power your under tank heater is using, those are highly affected by changeing room temps. Here is a link to the thermostat

You can also get the right uth hear too. These guys are swesome by the way, reptilesupply is the best so you don't have to worry about ordering from them.
Mostly the only thing to do while waiting to get to the vet is keep your temps up. Glad i could help.
