    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

  • Responding to email notices you receive.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I get an extraordinary number of emails from people, who are having one problem or another, who do not provide me with their registered member name on this site. Without that info, it is pretty difficult for me to have to figure out how to find out ANY information about their account in order to figure out what is needed to take care of their problem. So that wastes my time sending back a reply asking for this basic information in order to try to help resolve the problem.

Along those same lines, often I will get emails that will say nothing more then "cannot log in", "cannot post messages", "what is wrong with your system". I kid you not. That is ALL I have to go on from the emails.

I hope this doesn't sound rude, and I certainly hate to have to think about it this way, but sooner or later I am going to just have to start ignoring those kinds of messages completely. So if you are reading this thread and find that you need to contact me about some problem here having to do with registration, email changes, membership status, etc., please be certain to cover the following details in your correspondence with me:
  1. Provide your registered member name
  2. Send emails to me ONLY via the email address you are registered under, whenever possible
  3. Provide as much detail as possible as to exactly what your problem is

If you want me to help you, YOU need to help me as much as possible. Save us both some time and frustration by providing me what I need to get your problem resolved as quickly as possible.

I need to emphasize the above post. I get a LOT of emails from people who tell me nothing at all about exactly what the problem is and on top of that, do not even tell me what their member name is here. So in order to help them, I need to waste my time to send them an email requesting that basic info that should have been included from the start.

I hate to do this, but I have no choice. From now on, any emails to me that do NOT contain that information will have to be ignored. This is my busy season with my own animals, and I just don't have the time to spare to twist someone's arm to provide me the very basic information needed if they expect to get some help.

You can talk all you like in any of the forums for free~ it appears you are already a registered user and thats all thats required for talking

If you would like to sell anything then you need to purchase a subscription~ it took me a few min to find the paid subscription table (Rich~ maybe you could make the table easier to find?) so rather than describe how I found it~ here is a link

Just pick out the membership level that gives you what you want for the price your willing to pay~ go to your user CP (up top on the left) and go to paid subscriptions to buy the level you want.

Every time I go to ads in Aamids, I get a v-message that I am out of token. What is a token and how do I get more. This only happens when I go to Agamids. That is the one I go to the most. Any ideas. Thank you.

See the tokens, under my login name... Click on them and follow the directions step by step. You should NO longer have that problem ;) :rofl: J.k. Right now, I think everyone is having an issue with logging in. I would go to the specific forum that you are trying to get into and log in from that point. It seems to work for me.

Rich, sorry if my wife was one of them emails you had to ignore. Welcome to my life however :D

Try clearing your browser cache and/or trying a different browser.
 
Help with posting replys to classified adds

I've been trying to get some help (most likely operator error in getting help). In the last month or so I have been unable to post replys to classified adds. This is the error message I receive each time I try:

Chris Wilkinson, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
Log Out Home

To my knowledge I have not been banned from posting in this site. I have responded to adds in the past but cannot at this time. Any help or direction to whom can help would be greatly appreciated.

At this time only contributing members can post responses in the classifieds, any member can still post for sale/wanted ads. You have not been banned from posting.
 
You must be a paid member to reply to classified ads. You can PM any of the people that have started an ad though. This is do to people just going to start trouble in the ads itself. But like I said you can still contact the seller via email or private message.

There is a thread about this somewhere. I am being lazy though lol
 
Leaving Trader Rating?

I just did a great trade with a member here and wanted to leave him positive trader rating and when I do so I am getting a window that states I am not authorized to do so or my account may be locked. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I know I have left trader ratings for people in the past so I'm not sure why I can't now.

If you've given Trader Ratings before, then you must have let your Contributor status lapse since, because you show only as a registered member now. If you wish to renew your Contributor status, here's the link: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/payments.php?
