    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

PM Spam??

Yeah, I had the same thing on a couple of other sites. One thing I did was to increase the amount of time between PMs and emails to stymie this sort of spam attack.

Dennis' magic is strong - I tried to find buddha as soon as I read the initial post, and wasn't able to.

I just checked that email address today, and the personal message wasn't there.... I don't know if one of the mods. manually deleted it, or when the account is removed it removes the PM, but I didn't have a PM from him in my fauna account....
 
I deleted all the PMs he sent. There is an admin function that allows me to do that when spammers take that route to contact people.
 
What is the purpose of such a spam message?
I don't think I got one but from the description I'm having trouble figuring out what the point of it was.

Most spam is trying to sell something or spread a virus. Doesn't look like it though.
