In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

As I am cleaning gecko enclosures today (yes, on Mother's Day) I can't help but notice how many different toilet habits my geckos have... many are aggravating. So, I decide to post a poll to see what everyone's "pet poop peeves" are!

Not geckos, but snakes: their urates are like cement when dry and difficult to clean and they always seem to choose a back corner of thie cage or other extremely inconvenient place, and of course it is the next day before you notice, so you are trying to clean cement. And then of course they KNOW when their cage is cleaned and pristine and often manage to find a way to do it, again.

I picked in the water bowl and on me.

Water bowl because I think it's nasty that they could be, well, drinking their pee/poop.

Second choice, well does anyone like to get pooped on? lol

I voted "... in their water bowl". If I could, I'd vote for that same one about six more times! That really bugs me!

I chose all of the above. Don't you just love when they leave you a fresh one and they romp through it like a 5 year old in a mud puddle. That happened to me once with one of my leos and he left little footprints all over the towel and on the sides of the tub. Needless to say he got a bath :)

euw euw EUW, Shawn !!!

What do you bathe them with? I had one little darling do that to me once, and her tail just STUNK. water would not wash it off. I used fruit and vegetable wash to get her clean and odor free-ish.

LOL!!! Shawn vored for ALL of them! I've been pooped on so many times it doesn't phase me anymore. The only time I'm aware of it is when my husband asks me, "What is that new cologne you're wearing? Essence de poo?"

I went for all but on top of the hide. I use plastic containers so it's pretty easy to clean those off. Inside their hide is a mess that takes a little longer replacing substrate, etc, same goes for water bowl. On me or on the side of the enclosure doesn't really take that long, but it's annoying. They love to seem to poop on the side of the cage right after I clean it too....

I picked...

- When they poop on the top of their hide.
One of my Leos ALWAYS does this...Drives me nuts!

- When they poop inside their hide.
Why do they want to poop where they sleep?

- When they poop in the water bowl.
This is just GROSS. It's gets extra squishy! *shudders*

What do you bathe them with?

Laura, we use diluted Nolvasan that we get from our Vet. We also use a soft bristle tooth brush and scrub away ( make sure you mark it " REPTILES ONLY", if you don't want to find it next to your other tooth brushes :ack2:

My guy doesn't poop in the waterbowl..by always manages to poop on the inside of his hide, against the wall..so when I pick up the hide, I always have a cling-on with it.

I had to choose inside the hide bow, because that is just gross! Sleeping with your Poo :ack2:

And, also, in the water bowl, just for sanitary reasons

I know what you mean... since lizards do not have a diaphragm they really need to get some projectile power behind their poo! Ewwww!!!

Poo in the water bowl gets really gross so that takes my vote for gecko poo
I'd have to say that the most aggravating place that I see poo is in my feeding container for my kingsnakes. everytime I feed them they feel teh need to take a crap right afterwards and I have to clean it all the time

I voted for in the water bowel and in the hide.

My geckos poo in their water and the smell really get nasty and fast, and that's no fun. I have a few boas that always poo in their water bowl, and I am happy they do it since it makes clean up a lot easier. But that's because boas poo like a german shepherd.

I don't mind when my Leos poo in their normal hides, but when they do it in their moist hide/egg chamber I have to constantly replace the coco fiber.
