In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Possibily bringning my leo home tomorrow! Going Shopping!!

OK I have a bunch of questions about what to get...

20 long tank - Is that big enough?

Substrate- is the same shelf liner I use for my beardie ok?

basking bulb- what wattage and what temp?

UVB- same as a beardie?

What kind of decorations? lotta climbing branches? Hideaways? fake plants?

Food- what greens? Silkies ok? Cuz I got a plentiful supply of them!!

Anything else I am missing?

A 20 long is great.

substrate = something that can not been ingested is recommended.

You want half the tank to be 90 degrees the other half at room temp. The temps should be measured at ground level. Temps are best achieved with an undertank heater connected to a thermostat.

UVB is not necessary. They are nocturnal.

NO greens, they are insectivores.

Do some searches on these forums, you'll find a ton of useful info.

The tank size is definitely big enough for a leo.

They don't really need a basking bulb, but they do need belly heat. A UTH is recommended, because the belly heat helps them to digest their food. If you want a red or blue bulb so you can watch him/her at night make sure the wattage doesn't add too much heat. The UV light is something that's debated. I personally don't use any UV since they are nocturnal, and as long as you are supplementing correctly they should be fine.

As for decorations, just make sure they have at least one dry hide and another humid hide so that they can shed easily. Everything else you have listed is fine, I just wouldn't make the branches up to high incase they fell off. You should also leave a cap of calcium in their enclosure for them to lick at.

Leos eat a diet of insects so you don't need to provide them with greens. Silkies are a good food, as well as mealworms, superworms, crickets or roaches. Make sure they're properly dusted with calcium and they should be happy campers.

I think that's everything, sorry if I missed something. Hope this helped!

Can I use the same calcium I use for my beardie?

Rep-Cal
Phosphorus free
Calcium with vit D3
Ultrafine powder
BRIGHT PINK LABEL

Do they need a Multivitamin like the beardies?

That calcium sounds perfect. However, for the capful in the tank (for them to lick at), I use a calcium without D3. D3 poisoning is possible if the gecko is given too much, so to play it safe I only dust lightly with it. A quick search in this forum on "D3" should give you plenty of information and views with its use.

I would highly suggest a multivitamin. Herptivite seems to be a good choice so if you have any for your beardies that would be great :) There are many dusting schedules people use for both the calcium and the multivitamin. Another search should shed some more light on it.

I know, its a lot of reading (I'm sorry) but I went through and found a few threads which may be able to answer some of your questions on supplementation. There are plenty more and a really great one I'm remembering that I can't find, but these should be a good start! ;)

So wait...what's the best calicum w/o vit. D3 to use, to I mix it with water and make it like a slurry?? confuzzled....

Take some of the calcium w/out D3 and scoop it into a bottle cap or a small lid (ie pickle jar) you don't have to add water, the geckos will lick it as needed.
