In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Possible bad Guy Alex L. Smith?

well i guess we just have to agree to disagree, i personaly make it a point to know how much money i have. but others are more care free when it comes to book keeping.

VINCE, I dont understand what

Sasheena is talking about when she mentions "self righteousness", you are correct in your statement. We live in a world of 10 second communications. Go online, you can see your account and everything else including your lifes history. Make a call and the information is automated with immediate information, even an ATM can provide information from anywhere in the country, so why cant this person know if he has enough money in his account

Sasheena, its one thing to make a mistake, even with bounced checks. I myself was in a similar situation that involved over $ 40,000 worth of bounced checks. I accidently went to a closing and used the checks from a wrong account without even realizing it until I received my first phone call. But I called the other 12 people once I realized the error.............Here you have a situation where at this point in time, the person involved certainly must be aware of this thread..................where is he! or is he taking the same position as he has done for the entire month Robert has attempted to contact him. Nothing!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy is a ostrich

Ray deals in quality.. David, are you questioning the quality?

Even big business makes mistakes with accounting etc. I'd hardly call one incident a reason to downsize.

No, I definitely wasn't questioning Ray's quality....that was a general statement. If someone can combine both of the aspects thats great! More power to them.

Jerry, Vince, kudos to both of you for being so good with your money. I'm just thankful I have no control over my money now, so now I have no problems.

Some people aren't good with money. I'm one of them. I once had a job as a college student, after working about eight weeks they called me in to the office and asked me if I was EVER going to pick up my paychecks. I'm so bad with money that I've been known to not turn in a timecard (back when I had time cards) just because it was a pain in the butt to turn it. So what that I lost the money I'd earned.

And no, I'm not rich. Just not good with money.

And for the last blessed time, I'm NOT defending Alex. Dunno him. the only connections I have to him is that (I think?) he's from california, where I grew up, and he's into herps, like I am too. Other than that no connection whatsoever.

what was that about?
JazzyJeff's real name is not Jeff Doyle, and he's from nowhere near Arizona.

It's a new account created by a recently suspended person(s) in Miami, FL.

Jorge and abi got together and had a son named jazzy jeff.
thanks for being here Ken.

I was so tempted to ban them myself and close the thread.

But I do not really wish to do such things unless of an emergency.
I only wanted my "powers" so i can check IP addresses

ONLINE

Go online, you can see your account and everything else including your lifes history.

Sorry Jerry, but that is not true... not all banks have online banking for you to go online.

I agree with Vince you should know what's in your account, but that's not always as easy as it sounds. I am changing banks because of too many screw ups on their part.. bouncing checks and then appologizing for THEIR error is not good enough for me.

My bank does not have online banking which makes them a dinosaur in this world of competative banking... just like the dinosaurs, they will become extint, with the lure of online banking!

DINOSAUR BANKS...

Scott,
You are not alone.. We also have a Dinosaur Bank.
One thing though, those small town banks,(as our's is), are very personable.
They really take care of the customers they do have.
Suntrust, Nations Bank, and all the other big names don't do that too often..
Jeff Lewis

SPUTNICK, My statement is quite

accurate, you can go online and see your account, and you can certainly check credit reports and a whole assortment of histories if someone needs a background check.

You are correct about not all banks having the necessary machinary for online banking, and of course you would not have immediate accessibility to your account, but my statement contrary to your post is true. If the bank is online, the information is available. That was my only point.

A HUH

Well, mine is online, but none of that info you are talking about is available. Like I said, DINOSAUR!

This doesn't apply to a check going through twice and bouncing both times, but gives you an idea of what small town banks can be like.

Jeff, I wish our small town bank looked after their customers. A lot of people in my area have switched banks because of bad service and totally inadeqate system that is down frequently.

I have gone to my bank on more occassions then I would like to admit and spoken to two different people about my account and gotten two totally different balances within a period of 5 mins. Which made paying a bill impossible that day because I didn't want to risk writing a hot one.

I have stood in line and been the only person there for over ten minutes while tellers chit chatted amongst themselves.

have you folks ever hear of

switching banks. I am sure their are banks that can provide current and up to date information without the nonesense that your mentioning. In either case your examples are more the exception to the rule then the rule.

All I can tell you is that I would withdraw my entire fortune of $ 59.83 if I could not get an accurate balance.

Have shipping records been checked yet? Did the snake actually get shipped? Was it received?

Another question I have......was the buyer notified that the animal was en route? We always send a tracking number immediately so that the customer can track the shipment and know to get in touch if 10:30 a.m. rolls around and there is no animal.

JERRY

Yes, I have already stated I am switching banks. I want good managment, NOT I don't have this info, that's not available... I don't knows, sorry our system is down, come back tomorrow etc that I get with our small town bank!

Get this, one day they closed for the whole day without notifying anyone... people, as I did arrived at their front door to find it locked with NO explanation of why they were closed on a regular business day!

OH YEAH, I am switching!!!!

Curious as to the resolution on this.....did the guy get the snake and bounce a check? Did the snake go to someone else? Is it lost?

I thought this thread was about Alex Smith not how you all bank and balance your checkbook. LOL

I purchased a boa from Alex about six months ago. It was advertised as an EBV Red Group. When I asked for pics he responded quickly and let me know that only one parent was from EBV. I thanked him for his honesty and purchased the boa because the parents were amazing.

The day he shipped the boa he emailed me a brief email explaining that the boa had not eaten for a little while and was a little thin. I was concerned because I already paid and it was already shipped. The pic in the ad was of a healthy robust baby boa. When the baby boa arrived it was completely emaciated could barely move and died two days later.

I contacted Alex the day I received the boa and let him know it was in rough shape and that I wasn't happy. He told me that if it died he would refund my money. After it died he requested that I send the carcass back to him at my expense which I did. He gave me my money back right away.

From this experience I have mixed feelings. He was honest, friendly, and refunded my money right away but he sent me a boa that he had to know was sick and then made me ship it back to him? Had he been completely up front I would not have purchased the boa. It was a big waste of time and money.

Thanks,
Jaremy Douglas

Bounced Check

Well Ray is right about one thing. I bounced a check. I totally forgot my wife wrote and mailed the check for the snake at my request. (impulse buy that I forgot about, 5ft peaked suriname for $190 shipped)

When I got confirmation that the check bounced I saw Ray post the animal back up for sale as though the buyer backed out.

I figured he was upset and didn't want to do business with me because my check bounced and I can respect that. I left the subject alone.

Next I receive 3 phone calls from fellow herpers stating what Ray had said and frankly got a little pissed.

He did not ship me an animal and I wouldn't screw anyone for a snake. Remember people first snakes second!

Ray and I talked and I would like him to confirm this whole story because no one likes being accused of something they didn't do.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex, now that that is "possibly" cleared up, would you care to elaborate about the post where you sent the guy a dying boa and then made him eat the shipping? Also, how about the ball pythons that were shipped in a box with no bags? I would like to hear your side of the story before I go jumping to conclusions.
