    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi everyone (Im kinda new) I was just wondering if anyone knows where I could purchase a male and a female banded gecko (peferably western banded
 
The banded geckos(beautiful, in my opinion) are indigenous to New Mexico. Before you try to buy one, find out if you are allowed to own one. You can do this by calling the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. They have all the updated rules reguarding native wildlife and the keeping of such.

Just because people sell them doesn't mean they do it legally. Please do the right thing, and contact the DNR, because if your not suppossed to have them and they find out your have them (tracking shipments etc) they will destroy them and keep an eye on you forever!
 
I have a collection of desert bandeds (Coleonyx variegaus) and although it is legal to collect them here in California, it is illegal to sell them because they are a native species. I agree that if you were to go out 'herping' in the desert right after dusk, you will likely come across a few!
 
to my knowledge

Texas still allows the collecting of banded geckos. but who sells them is not known to me. i know we always see them while hunting the big bend region of southwest Texas.

I have never seen these geckos in real life (I live in New Mexico just so everyone knows) The only reason I said people sell them is freinds say they saw them in pet stores (which now that I think of it, they might of misteken them for leopard geckos :confused: )

So, from what I am understanding, the only way to get these guys is to go out catch them myself (I did not mean that to sound lazy) Thank you guys again.
 
They really can't be mistaken for leopard geckos because Desert Bandeds are VERY small in comparison... about 3 inches long where leos are 6-9 inches long. Here are a few pics:

Man, every time I see those geckos... They are just so beutiful. Well, to the respnse, you know how uneducated people are. They can mistake a savanna monitor from a nile monitor :nonod: :rofl:
