In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi, I've heard that it's safer using Postal Money Orders for larger purchases because it's easier to get your money back if you get ripped off? Can someone explain how this would work? I'm planning on spending $1500 on a snake and the person selling it to me has no record on the BOI, but everything he's told me has checked out okay. The person he got the snake from (John Romeo, Harbor Reptiles) even replied to one of my inquiries about the seller stating that he did buy that snake from him. But that does not mean he won't send me a different snake. Whats the best way to be protected in such a deal? Thanks for your time.

Salvador,

The first thing I would do is ask for a picture of the snake in question. Then show it to John Romeo. If you are lucky enough he might be able to recognize the animal. Maybe he does keep pictures on file of the snakes he has sold.

At least in the area where I'm at the maximum that the USPS will allow is $1,000. You will thus have to write two money orders ($1,000 and $500). Needless to say buy insurance for the total amount (to protect yourself in the event it gets lost) and send it priority with signature requested upon delivery.

Best of lucks. :)

Thanks for the reply Alvaro,

He has sent me many pics, some of which he took with the snake infront of his computer monitor where I can see my Instant Message in the background. He was really good about taking the pictures I requested when I requested them. The snake in the pictures is the snake I would like to buy. So would you agree that paying via Postal Money Order is safer than say Paypal? Thanks again.

It is my personal preference, as I feel it is more secure. I have sent postal money orders in excess of $1,000 with no problems whatsoever.

Regards.
