• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Posting animals for sale w/o a set price

But al least he is not claiming nothing for sure as some do.

Well, the issue with ads like that that I've seen, is that not all of them are due to that person having paid alot for their snakes.... In atleast one case, the person advertising had produced the snakes in question, but from the description of how he produced the snakes anyone with a bit of sense and a bit of knowledge about the species would realize that the odds that he produced a 'new morph' were very slim. I get the impression said person is probably trying to swindle the ignorant, but since I have absolutely no proof that he doesn't genuinely think he's decovered a new morph, I'll leave off posting details. I don't want to get involved in the mess that would likely come of it.

...

i wont do business with person X who offers seller Y more money for an animal that was just sold to buyer Z under the condition that seller Y will contact buyer Z and tell them that there is a problem with the animal and it can no longer be sold to them. that to me means that i could be buyer Z in that situation and i'm purchasing from person X and a new person X2 shows up and screws me! that's just an all around dishonest business person. AKA: scum. :D

did anyone follow my ABCXYZ "hypothetical" situation there?
have a good one!

Daniel - Let me explain a scenario where I would use "contact me for the price". With higher-end animals, there's a decent amount of competition for a rather small market share.
If I know that a certain breeder is offering animals on Kingsnake for a certain price, I'm not going to post my ad under theirs at my price if it is considerably lower than theirs.
Here's several reasons I would not challenge the other breeder's prices:

First, I don't know if a breeder has invested a small fortune to purchase their breeding stock, so my low-balling their price could lead to hard feelings.

Second, once an advertised price is listed, it becomes the norm for that animal in the eyes of the public. Low-balling other breeder's advertised prices is kind of a tacky thing to do.

Third, with high-end animals, there's alot more tire-kickers than those willing to open up their pocketbooks. I've actually found a better response on the higher-end animals not putting the price on the ad, as it seems to solicit more responses.

As for my own preferences, I will respond to ads stating "contact me for prices" or "first to Paypal gets the animal". The only condition I have is the dealer has to know the price they want for the animal.

Ads I will not respond to are "I don't have pictures because my camera broke" or "Add 3% for Paypal fees".

Thanks, Stephen Emerick

Stephen,

You are absolutely right on that one. That's good business practices on your side, as anyone has the right to value his/her animals at what they feel they are worth. If you post a similar animal for let's say 70% of their price, it can become a touchy situation.

Daniel

I love forums like these.....it lets me see what others are thinking about.

Thanks Stephen....I never even considered what you just said.
But it makes perfect sense...

I guess I will now start writing to person C instead of saying C'ya later.

Thanks

I for one would not want to be responsible for lowering the market price for an animal....just because I decided I needed the money

If I see an animal I want and there's no price I will still email and ask what the price is. I mean I wouldn't want to offer them "more" than they were hoping to get. At the same time I wouldn't want to offer them a price that was too low. I wouldn't want to insult them or the quality of their animals. I avoid the ones that say, "highest bidder gets it!" As far as posts that say "first come first serve"....... Well, I'll still email them too. Unfortunately I don't do Pay Pal. If they don't want to wait for a money order to get there, then I move on to the next snake I'm looking at. Fortunately, I've yet to find a seller who won't wait for the money to arrive. I've had people hold animals for 2 weeks or more waiting for the check or money order to get there. Yeah, sometimes it took that long even if I mailed it the same day I talked to them. I've also had people take payments from me for animals I wanted. I guess it's all what you want and if you're willing to make the extra effort to check out the ones without prices or not. I've found that most if the time it's worth checking them out.
