In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

The power in my room went out. I'm concerned a fuse might have blown, but I checked the circuit breaker and everything was fine.
Electric company told me to reset all circuits one by one, I did so, the power still will not come back on.
Everything is off, the main light, my reptile heat mats and lights, TV and fish tank light/filter/heater.
How do I get it to come back on if the above didn't work?
They are sending someone out to check our box-things for how much power is being used and what not.
Ugh

Use a extension cord until you get the power figured out. You may have blown something in the wall outlets, or something in the circuit box may be damaged and need replaced rather than reset.

Have y'all called an electrician? (No offense to the great advice offered by the reptile geeks here, but it seems if the electricity isn't working......)

I don't know of anything that can help you, but I'm sending out prayers for all your animals to make it!!

Hugs!!

You can use heat packs under their cages (like for shipping reptiles) until the power is restored. Make sure you keep a close eye on the temps, with your temp gun and you might want to put them in smaller tubs (easier to heat) .

I plugged all the heat mats into an extension cord.
The electrician came out today and fixed a fault wire in one of the sockets, said it was a neutral wire. The lights went back on, however my outlets still will not work. :/
I'm flabbergasted. Why are the lights on, but anything plugged into the outlets won't work?
I've tried various appliances, hair dryers, light fixtures, heating pads, radios, etc. nothing will work in the outlets.
So I guess I'll keep it in an extension cord for a while, the electrician is out of town tomorrow and a few days after I think. He was a nice guy.
But we have an older house--the entire upstairs is run on one kind of power cable that connects all the rooms, so if anything breaks in one outlet, he told us that downstream nothing would turn on since it is all connected.
Interesting. :/

She said the electric company was sending someone out.

I think another electrician is warranted. The electric company will look at their equipment, and some nice company reps might make suggestions, but they do no repairs if it is not their equipment that is at fault.
the problem with electrical failure is that not only does not one have power, but there is always the possibility of electrical fire.

Generally an electric company isn't going to send out a rep if you say "My outlets aren't working", since they just supply electriciy to your power box. I "assumed" that it would be an electrician to look at the wiring. My bad. I know MY power company would say "Your problem, it's inside YOUR house" but she may have a totally different acting power company.

Electrical fire is a huge risk, I'm hoping someone there knows enough to turn off the breaker to that area of the house.
