In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Predetors or [email protected]

As for appetite she hasn't at for me yet. I got her on Wednesday and let her settle in thursday, offered her a dead rat friday night and she refused it. I fed it to someone else and offered her a stunned live one, maybe she won't eat dead, she refused it too. It's still pretty soon so I'll take her to the vet tomorrow and see what he says then try again if she comes back with me.

If it were me, I'd hold off on giving food that's been in contact with her to other snakes, in case she has something contagious.
I know it sucks to waste a prey animal like that but especially considering she's exhibiting questionable symptoms, quarantine would be a good idea.

I know. Thank you.

I just dangled it front of her nose. But you're right. She's quarantined in the opposite end of the house. I just didn't think about the rat. I was just running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to get ready to leave. Didn't even occur to me at the time.

I am surprised with how quickly you throw out the IBD scare, yet you do not offer proper quarantine procedures. You are willing to blame Pete for risking your collection, but did not properly quarantine the boa. Since you offered the sick snake a rodent that did not take it, then fed the rodent to another, Pete is no longer to blame for any risk to your animals, you are.

There are a number for quality threads on this website with great information about IBD. Some have dealt with the disease here and are a wealth of knowledge. I would advise you do some reading, IBD is an important problem in this industry that many keepers should be aware about. I wish you luck with the boa that it will be easily treated, liver biopsies can be done, but as Rick said, it is pricey, figure $200.

I'm not trying to make a "scare" I'm just saying that head flippig IS a symptom of IBD, as well as other things but I won't know for sure, as for Pete being liable for my collection what would it really matter? If my entire collection died because of his snake I wouldn't ge anythig out of him regardless. He hasn't replied to this thread or any of my emails so I doubt he will at all. And Right. As I said, it was a mistake made in haste. I know I messed up I normally take over precautions. The snake is not even in the same town anymore so it's not going to happen again.
