In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello my name is Chad I have owned snakes for some time now, but this is the first time ive tried to breed them. I was curious on the different ways to tell if your snake is gravid. The snake I am wondering about is an albino boa about 9 ft 30#s or more and ive been told that it is hard to observe the swell on snakes that are larger, so im not sure I think ive seen a small swell but cant really tell, are there any pregnancy tests for reptiles. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You all very much Chad Tibbs

Watch and see if she grows basically. What her behavior is. Whether she stops eating, keeps to the heat more often, acts differently. Further along, Doppler can be used to listen for extra heart beats, or X-Rays can be taken to see if there is any bone development. But if there is significant growth, then that's usually a good clue.

I think the only "pregnancy test" there is available to reptiles is an ultrasound to check for offspring...

If there is a blood test available to check for pregnancy I do not know about it.

However, I will say this. If you are unsure about the things to look out for, then maybe you should rethink breeding right now...these are things that should be thought about BEFORE the animals are bred.

Good luck with your offspring, and I hope everything turns out well for you.

Thank you for the advice Richard and I have not noticed any unusual behavior, but she is glued to her belly heat under her hide box. I think she may be getting a small swell but like I said it is so hard to tell when she is already as big as my theigh, guess ill just have to wait and keep checking. And JordanAng420 I am not unsure of the signs, it is just hard to tell with a snake as large as her I have had multiple well-known breeders tell me this, and I have owned snakes for at least five years and have seen and helped freinds take care of their gravid snakes, I have just never had a pair that I wanted to breed. Thank you for being concerned but it seems alot of people on here say something rude and try to cover it with best ot luck or some bs like that. Nice screenname as well, maybe you should reconsider your profession if your a pot head i wouldnt want you performing anesthesia on my animals, but best of luck(see what I mean just because you add something nice after doesnt mean that it wasnt still rude) Sorry if I offended any pot-smokers, I have no problem with you, just some of the people that think they were born knowing everything. Just because you ASK A QUESTION does not mean you know nothing on the subject, but rather trying to improve your understanding

Actually, it's not any harder to see the swells on larger snakes. IMO, it's easier, because they develop more follicles and have larger litters, so it's usually fairly obvious when they swell up. It's the smaller stature CA boas that have the smaller swells.

I happen to agree with Maia, and just refrained from saying so. Your question is not posed like a person of experience. it's posed like a person that has read a few things online, and is regurgitating that info. I can tell by your two little posts you have a whole lot to learn, and probably shouldn't be breeding until you do learn some more. For the benefit of your animals that is.

And not that she needs me to defend her, but if you're judging Maia by her screen name, you are so far out of whack it's not funny. Maia is one of the more highly admired people on this site for her knowledge and mature train of thought. She didn't sling insults like a child the way you did, she offered sound advice. And you think to try and judge her for a screen name? HA HA HA

My advice is grow up, or you won't like it here.

Reconsider my profession??? Are you 'effin serious??? Yeah, let me just throw 12 years of my life down the drain, and screw putting food on the table for my family....

YOU should reconsider breeding. You have no experience with it, and you have admitted it. I certainly hope you have space for all the offspring you produce, as well as time to feed, clean, and water each and every one of them...

I have nothing more to say to you. If your goal was to insult me and my profession, you sure as heck achieved it.

Sorry to the mods if this is OT, or even if it gets me points but homeboy hit a sore spot with me...
