In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

pretty new to T's but here's what i got

i just started collecting T's a few weeks ago but , i have been working in a large petshop in the reptile department for quite a while and have been doing alot of research on them since i have to deal with them on a daily basis at work . i had been wanting to get a couple for a while , and finally took the plunge with my first T a couple weeks ago . i got a chaco golden (Grammostola aureostriata) . it's sling so i figure i got lots of years ahead with it .

i've been enjoying the first one so much i got 2 more tonight . i picked up a tawny red baboon (still havent figured out the latin name yet) and a sunburst baboon ( also havent got the latin on this one) . the tawny is also a sling , but the sunburst is about 3 inches .

thought i'd post some crappy pics of all three of them here for those who are interested .

first is the chaco . sorry it's so blurry , but my camera stinks and is very near sighted .

next is the tawny red . also blurry for the same reasons .

Wow man....you dove right in the mix :)
Ok the chaco is a tame specie and will get rather large, that one there is a good first time buy.
Now for the other two
Pterinochilus murinus [orange baboon] is a very mean beast that can be very fast. The bites from the starburst have been noted to have some complications so be careful. It is a heavy webber and once it webs itself a home it will be less likely to bolt, but be careful with this one.
Hysterocrates gigas [tawney red] is also an aggressive beast but not quite as fast. Provide this spider with a rather deep substrate as it will burrow and become your very own pet hole :) These look good in between two glass panes, somewhat like an ant farm
Any help me or someone else here can provide just ask.

thanks john . i know it seems i'm jumping in pretty quick , but i have been working with them for the last year at the petshop i work at . i'll be the first to admit i am still pretty green though .

i got the chaco so i could potentialy have a T i can handle a little . the sunburst i have actually done quite a bit of research on and am aware of the potential problems , but i really like the looks of them . i will be very cautious with it . the tawny red was actually a spur of the moment buy as the price was just to good to pass up . i will also be very cautious with it .

i am always open to advice on my new critters and will probably be here asking questions pretty regular . once again thanks for the info and i'll keep you posted on how they are doing .

Hey no problem man....
The gigas will also get rather large and heavy, one of the biggest Africans.
It will be a whole lot easier to manage than the murinus.
Chaco's are too cool a spider, they are calm and get pretty darned big.I keep a couple of large adult females myself.
Good luck ...it seems like you have now been bitten by the 'bug'.

yeah , i had been wanting to get into the inverts for a while , but other projects have been keeping me from doing so .

the gigas has already dug itself a pretty good size burrow with 3 entrances that i can see and i've only had it set up for less than 24 hours . the murinus , had a web up when i got up this morning , but when i got home from work this evening it looks like the web was torn down . there is no one here that could have messed with it so i'm wondering if this is normal behavior . i dont recall reading anything like this .

the chaci i got just for the fact that it does get larger than alot of other T's . plus i was told(aparently correctly) that they do tend to be more docile than alot of other spiecies .

i have always been one to look for more unusual critters weather they are snakes , mamals or now , inverts . i see tons of people with rose hairs and pink toes , and i wanted something different . so far i am quite happy with my choices .

Hey Hey Hey! Don't you be makin fun of us peoples with Rose hairs and Pink Toes. I'm quit fond of my Rose hair, more fond of her then I probably ever will be with any other Spider. Thats my Daughter and I'd kick some bum bum for her! :) Shes such a sweetheart and quit large if I may so myself.

That is a wicked start there though. I'm jealous! EVERYBODY on here lately has got some NICE collections. I want a Chaco SO bad, and a Green bottle Blue and just give em all to me! :)

i have nothing against rosehairs or pink toes :D i just wanted something a little different .

thanks for checkin out my new critters :D
