Protean Imports

just a word of caution FLOYDSMOM

Until something goes wrong, I am sure your experiences with Jason will be productive. But realize this, and its unmistakable:

Steve had prior dealings with Jason. His purchases were not small .

Jason should have bent over backwards to accommodate Steve with the present order and realized that if you treat a customer right, it will provide future orders as well. This is common , and certainly what everyone strives for ! What more delight could you ask for then for someone to send that amount of money in advance, have prior business purchases, and a potential for future dealings. Everyone wants that !

But when you analze what transpired, Steve did not even have an opportunity to utilize any complaint about the animals because Jason screwed up with the shipping. Steve received nothing. Under the TOS, Steve would still be responsible even had the animals died in NY . EXPLAIN THAT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be one thing had Steve received the animals and their was a problem. But how do you rectify someone who attempts to use their own method of operation against themselves. ( I made a mistake of shipping the animals to the wrong person, but you are to blame nevertheless) So no refunds, and no exceptions.!

Good luck if you feel comfortable in your business dealings with Jason, but I hope for your sake, that you understand when someone is willing to loose a customer as Steve , with the amount of money that he had already spent with Jason, what chance does a person have if something goes wrong again, regardless of whose fault it is. The object in any sale is to satisfy the customer and look toward future dealings. This is not an objective in Jasons world or his warped method of doing business.

As it turned out Steve lost his paypal refund which Jason , had Jason been a gentlemen about it, should have refunded that as well ! It ethically shameful .

As I said when someone uses these methods as their TOS, its because of prior difficulties. In most cases its caused by their own inability to use common sense and good business ethics. Jason is a very bitter person, maybe not when you speak to him over the phone, but his method of creating those terms are not an accident but a procedure for insuring a policy of that should BE EXPOSED TO WHOEVER DOES BUSINESS WITH JASON

I personally was interested in some Mantellas Jason had for sale. I came here looking for information on him and found nothing. I ask a few friends if they have heard of Protean imports and I was informed that he was also the owner of JP imports. Had my friend not known this I would have likely made a purchases that I otherwise would have decided against.

I am calling this out as dishonest. Elizabeth has not contacted me in the past regarding mantella frogs.

You never did a search on my name. I just did a search for my name - Jason Perillo and found hits dating back to 2004. http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/search.php?searchid=578511
The first inquiry on my name goes back to Knobtail - Jerry Tressor - I backed out of doing business with him, but there was positive feedback left. The second goes to an XtremeReptiles thread. The Third by Jerry Tressor again, in which we conducted business after he heard positive feedback from the same individual he was given positive feedback from the first time. The fourth posting is the one in which Steve Hoch and I had our misfortunate dealing. The fifth then goes to this particular thread here.

No one could have heard of Protean Imports as I just started using the name commercially with the ads I have for mantellas and uroplatus geckos. The business name JP Imports was never formally used as a company name and with that name I had spoken with a few people regarding its usage. Steve Hoch was one of those people.

After having read this rather carefully, the day Patsfan - Elizabeth Jencks joined fauna, 05/14/07, she made her first post in my name. I find it interesting that the location Elizabeth Jencks is from is the same area that Steve and his girlfriend are from - Rhode Island. Elizabeth is also the name of Steve's girlfriend. I did a little bit more searching via a reverse telephone directory based on the telephone number Steve has and found it to be in Elizabeth Lonardo's name. Elizabeth Lonardo also orginates from Rhode Island and is Steve's girlfriend. The intent of opening the thread in my business name was not to inform people of any dealings you have had but to open back up the issues that were surrounded by my terrible actions with Steve. After searching for all three last names, Jencks, Hoch and Lonardo I discovered all three names to be from the same areas of Rhode Island and particularly notable is that surnames Lonardo and Jencks are from the same town, East Greenwich R.I. So Elizabeth, your friend must be either be Elizabeth Lonardo or Steve Hoch. Given the sore wound with Steve, this thread was only started to schmear my name through the mudd even more than it has been already. The intent of this was not to inform anyone of your dealings with me or any communication you have had with me, but to continue to add to the past issues with Steve.

As for the $96 steve had not received, I have always used either money order or paypal as payment options. Had he chosen money order, there would have been no fee involved but because I had to send payment back to him via paypal, the fee applies as it was his chosen method for the transaction to occur. And it is illegal by paypal user agreement to request the fee paypal charges per transaction.

And for Jerry Tressor who has inquired about me twice on this forum and been given sound feedback by the same individual twice, the commentary being made by him is retalitory based on a transaction with him in which we traded 0.2 cyrtodactylus elok for $400.00 credit for fruitflies. I had sent Mr. Tressor the animals first and was to receive the flies when I needed/requested them. When the time came that I needed the fruitflies it took me 3 tries to reach Mr. Tressor. It was not until I forwarded the email that clearly stated the amount Mr. Tressor agreed a $400.00 credit that I heard a response. Mr. Tressor never followed through with his part of the bargain as he only sent me 48 cultures of flies which have a value of $144.00 according to his website when choosing 24 lot quantities at $3.00 per culture. http://www.jtresser.com/drosophila.html I had made communication with Mr. Tressor many times after that in order to rectify the situation but hardly heard a response until I had given him multiple emails and at least 4 methods to contact me. And when I did here back I was threatened with him calling the IRS to report me for not claiming my paypal payments from customers. This then went on to several additional emails in which I called Jerry out on extortion and the issues stopped. However, he then side swiped into another direction threatening that he would make my life difficult if I continued pushing the issue of credit with him. I then contacted the Pasadena, CA Police Department to have record of the situation in case I needed to go to court in order to get my remaining credit. As it stands I have had no communication with Mr. Tressor since and I am still owed a credit of $256.00. When providing a customer with a credit of xxx amount, it is standard to go with pricing based on what is advertised on the advertisers listing. That is standard business practice.

Since Mr Tressor is so concerned with my terms of service and my adhering to them, maybe he be should be concerned with adhering to his own terms of service since our transaction fell short on his fulfillment of said terms.

I cannot see a reason to reply any further. I handled the situation with Steve incorrectly and will learn from my mistake. If anyone would like to contact me regarding the animals I am advertising for sale from my shipment from Madagascar please feel free to contact me.

You did not state your full name in the ad (as you can see above) so I was only able to do a search for Protean Imports. Up until I started a thread there was no record of a Protean imports on the BOI. So, before you accuse someone of being dishonest please get your facts straight. Please explain to me how I was suppose to know P. stood for Perillo.

Jason

I am not going to be drawn into a pissing contest with you concerning my difficulties with your wisdom. This thread is about you and your method of conducting business.

Everything between you and Steve is very well documented and readers can make their own judgement as to how they have to proceed with a note of caution when doing business with you.

As I indicated before, you are a person who seems to have a problem with the world and its only a question of time before you will be here again . Thats a given ! A lack of maturity, business wise as well as knowing how to deal with people properly. I have nothing further to say, but I am glad you responded as inaccurately as it may be.

You actually did a big favor to Steve. It could have been worse had he not contacted the BOI. You almost got away with it!

Elizabeth Jencks is a friend of mine. She e-mailed me asking if I had heard of protean imports because she saw some mantellas on KS that she was interested in. I hadn’t heard of Protean imports at the time, so I decided to check out the ad. I knew Jason had posted the ad because I recognized his number. I told Elizabeth I had dealt with Jason before and that I didn’t recommend that she deal with him. I told her to go back and do a search for Jason Perillo owner of JP imports for they are the same person. I know it is hard to believe Jason, but even though I have been living in SC for the past 3 years I do keep in touch with people I have met in RI. Heck, I was actually born and raised in Buffalo NY and still keep in touch with friends living there. Those interested in reptiles also know of our transaction. The reptile industry is very small and if you have been in it long enough you will realize that everyone know everyone else. This is why reputations are so important…

Jason, I do not have it out for you, in fact I personally do not care what happens to you or your business(es). Our transaction came to a finish 4 months ago man. However, if a friend or even a stranger, ask what I think of you I will direct them to the BOI. I do not see how there is anything wrong with that. LoL however, In the future I will tell everyone to refer to themselves as XXX friend/acquaintance of Steve’s. I would hate for you to think there is this secret cult out to get you. In addition, if you accept that you royally screwed up during out transaction and are no longer practicing business in that manor, why do you care if Protean imports is associated with JP imports? Just curious…

In regards to the paypal fee, I do not think that fee applies to REFUNDS. In fact, I believe if you had not taken the money out of the account and therefore were able to hit the “refund” button there wouldn’t have been a fee. I for one have never had to offer anyone a refund so I don’t know from experience, but I am pretty sure that is how it works. Regardless, our transaction cost me $96 and the only thing I received was a headache.

Lastly, I have never involved your girlfriend/family in our dealing and I would appreciate it if you would extend me the same courtesy. This includes phone calls at 10:00 at night.

he did explain the whole name change thing, and it really didn't have anything to do with any associations the old name may have with any business gone bad. it was simply easier to call all of his businesses by one name. not trying to start anything, but he had said that earlier...

To those that started and continue instigating this thread:

Congrations, you all form a very strong, collective argument for abortion.

Some facts.

http://www.geckosunlimited.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10031&highlight=protean

This post indicates Jason's planned business name was in the works before the deal between him and Steve went south. Notice the date of post, 1/10/2007.

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95235&page=1&highlight=jason+perillo

This post indicates the deal hit the fan around 1/22/07.

That is all there is to this argument. This thread is an attack on character, and should be deleted.

I hope someone starts a BOI thread on the architects behind this shameful display. Steve got his money back - the way he wanted - and Jason has come to terms with his failures. WHY IS THIS STILL AN ISSUE?
