In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Have you had enough yet? They just keep on screwing us every tim we turn around. Get on the phone or computer and call or e-mail your senater and reps and even send letters to the pres. Also if everyone stopped driving on the weekends they would get the idea. The country cant endure this forever.

Teen

Im a teen that is so exited to drive but the gas is killer i just cant aford it. I only have little money and i just can pass down to buy the little cute leos!!!

Nice idea but...most people who work during the week do their food shopping and other errands, not to mention their socializing, on the weekends. And don't look to your congressional representatives for relief. The oil companies control them (particularly members of the majority party), not the other way around.

Exactically if everyone stopped going and buying on the weekends the retailers and the oilers would be crying and the corrupt gove would have to do something. I heard one state is sueing the oil comps for price gouging

I put this idea out before but didn't get much of a response.
We have been being told since the 70's that this day was coming. Petroleum is a finite resource. Even if there is something hinky about the surge in prices right now, and I believe there is, a new paradigm of energy production and consumption is late in coming.

I am not a mechanic, but I have had conversations with some that are. Apparently it is not difficult or prohibitively expensive to retrofit gas engines to burn grain alcohol for fuel. And, biodiesel too, is a viable option even with the current technology.

OK, what could this mean? Which nations are the greatest producers of grain in the world? Which produce the largest tonage of soybeans for oil? Imagine if all vehicles changed over to burn grain alcohol or reclaimed cooking oil. How do you think the political climate would change? Which nations would increase in power because they could be major world suppliers of this energy source?

I know one thing for certain. It would not be the Middle East.

I was reading a bit of trivia the other day and discovered this very interesting piece of information. From which nation does the USA buy most of it's imported oil?

Canada.

A guy here in Atlanta modified a diesel engine car to use vegetable oil. He said it ran about $800 for the equipment and he gets the veggie oil FREE from restaurants. It costs $$ for the restaurants to get rid of the oil and this guy offered to take it for free...win-win situation. The car companies could do this same process for VERY LITTLE money but simply don't.

My husband said her heard that the amount of gas people are buying is going down (they are seeing a drop in sales). Plus, where we are, even though the prices aren't cheap, they are going down a little.

My brother in law, who owns an auto salvage yard, has modified his big front loader to run on used vegetable oil. I watched him lifting 3 crushed cars with it yesterday....it still has plenty of power, and yes, he gets the oil free.

The only drawback is that it stinks like burnt french fries. LOL.

they are interesting..

there are a lot of vehicle out there now that run on alternate fuels its just that no company wants to mass produce them. Below is the link to grease.com who is very well known for selling easy to install retrofit kits to convert diesel engines to vegetable oil burning engines. Its not very expensive either.

As opposed to the lovely aroma of diesel exhaust?

Give me french fries any day.

I think we should start our own car company making engines that run on snake sheds and gecko poop. :raspberry

The diesels that run WVO (waste vegetable oil) smell like a fast food place on wheels, it's really hard to get used to at first.

This is real. I have been behind Semi's that run on vegetable oil. It's terrible, smells like french fries!

I always figured that it would be a great marriage between this vegetable oil technology and McDonald's. They would help fund the infrastructure as well as supply the oil and in exchange no one could drive without thinking of those damn french fries which would inevitably boost their sales. :hehe:

so with the original post

I guess we can all not go to any of the reptile shows coming up ? As well as vendors not driving there. It's not going to happen folks. We are just to damn in love with our vehicles and flaunt it by our use of big non-needing trucks ( most people ) and our SUVs. I've asked before if anyone thinks there would be that mass graveyard of mass SUVs like the older planes out in the desert. Nope ! It's not going to happen. Of course that incentive by our freaking government not to long ago to buy a gas guzzling SUV didn't help either. Yeah, Right, It was mentioned to have that tax on SUVs and pickups again. Right ! There would be so many loop holes in this that it would be funny. FYI, my bud took a trip to west Texas last year and another bud came from Alabama to meet us there. We got 34 MPG on that throw away Dodge neon with the price of total gas for approx. 3,000 miles of $140. The guy from Alabama for the same miles had his bill at over $300 and my large pickup friend had a bill for over $400. This year i didn't go but the pickup bud did and he spent almost $500 as I said he would. Did he care ? Not at the time but later did state that was to dang much money in gas. That other hundred dollars he spent could of paid for his meals. Actually since the travel season was off by high gas prices, he got charged $10 more per night at the motel because of lack of tourism and up prices of food at restaurants. So He and I figured his trip was in excess of almost $200 or more because of the gas crunch.

The stupid thing about the gas hikes, that most of it anymore is gouging. When the prices were jumping up high duding katrina, prices raised nationwide at the pumps. Which the gas stations had the same old gas underground that they were charging cheaper the day before, but now had to hike up the price for no real reason, besides they can do it.

There's a drive in dinner kiddie corner to my backyard so if I'm gonna smell fries every time I step outside anyway, I may as well burn it to get to school in the winter.
