• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Punctuation, Grammar Nazis, and Common Sense

Still... I also think that if you want to point out grammar flaws to other people, then it may be best to do so in a PM so it doesn't muddle up the thread. *shrug* Again - I don't know what thread in paticular it's about, but I feel that could apply to most.
Just my two cents~

That is a very fair point...and one I shall consider carefully in the future, the next time I find myself facing the Great Wall of Text. :)

You have to admit it is comical when a person who feels like they need to criticize another persons grammar and spelling errors does the very same thing in their critical post.

I agree as well, it is easier to take a person seriously, especially in a setting such as the BOI, when they present themselves in an organized and mature manner. Written communication (using that term loosely in this context) in the form of text abbreviations, spelling errors and incorrect (or non-existent) punctuation does not, in my mind, put forth the image of a mature/ educated/ literate individual. I'm sorry but this also makes me take into consideration the persons true ability to reason. When you are trying to influence the population for the sake of your argument, every little bit counts.

I wonder if everybody here double, or triple read their posts, maybe even more than usual to look smarter? ;)

Really, wall of text, yeah, fix it. But consider the fact, too, that there may or may not be a technologically literate person behind the keyboard as well. It does happen. Im not a fan of it either, but im also not 100% judging a person if their WORDS say something meaningful.

I happily admit i have NOT read the original post, and im probably not going to go hunting for it either. Just some food for thought. I see plenty of posters who type and spell pretty damn well and punctuate the heck out of their posts, and yet MAGICALLY Ive formed worse opinions about them because of the crappy WORDS they type, not format.

I'm certainly not saying how someone types is the ultimate way to judge character or anything else. I'm just saying it's one small piece of the puzzle...but it IS a "first impression" sort of piece as well....and like it or not, first impressions do have an impact on how people perceive us.

I've seen plenty of scammers...bad guys....and honest businessmen who also happen to be flat-out jerks...that all type and communicate very well.

Kind of like the clothes we wear and how we groom. You can't judge a person's character by how they dress...but you still get an overall impression about them, however right or wrong it might be.

How they choose their words...how they treat other people they respond to...the language they use...the excuses they make or don't make...how they respond to challenges, road blocks, and other difficult situations.... Those are the "getting to know you" things that allow us to make more accurate assessments of a person's character or intentions.

Sorry...in a chatty mood, I guess. I'll shut up now.

Sometimes I have more patience than other times for reading posts with no punctuation or capitalization. However, I have even less patience for sellers who respond to my inquiries that way (or post ads without punctuation or capitalization). It seems to me that if you are selling something you should at least try to sound professional.
