In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I wanted to copy and paste Tracy Barker's post on another forum. If you thought ball pythons will be save from this python ban think again.
The HSUS and ASPCA will have their way if we dont keep fighting.

Do you really think this potential regulatory action is going to stop with these 10 species....?!

You might want to check this out:

Not convinced? Let's take a look at the newest chart published on page 129, the first page of Chapter 7, titled “Other Species at Risk of Becoming Established in the United States” in Dorcas, M. E., and J. D. Willson. 2011. Invasive Pythons in the United States. University of Georgia Press, Athens and London.

"SEVEN SPECIES OF PYTHONS AND BOAS THAT ARE EITHER ESTABLISHED OR AT RISK OF BECOMING ESTABLISHED AS INTRODUCED SPECIES IN THE UNITED STATES"

"SPECIES
1) BURMESE PYTHON
2) AFRICAN ROCK PYTHON
3) BOA CONSTRICTOR
4) GREEN ANACONDA
5) YELLOW ANACONDA
6) RETICULATED PYTHON
7) BALL PYTHON"

See how easy it was for these authors to just type the word BALL PYTHON onto the list?

Now they say there is a "Big snake" issue AND a "small snake" issue.

Once these first snakes are listed it is only an add on.

Have you sent in your letter?

I found this website that is supposed to "babysit" HSUS. There's an interesting article about how they paid to advertise on a 'cockfighting' website. What an off place to advertise.
http://humanewatch.org/
It's an interesting read. I personally am ALL for the humane treatment of animals, but not HSUS- or particularly PETA who wants to prevent ALL domestic animals from breeding, which I *believe* means there will be no animals to reproduce...Which wouldn't that mean now babies, and there for extinction of a lot of species? Just my two cents. Sorry for my rant, they just make me so angry. Thanks!

yeah everyone needs to sign this and for $9 have a hard copy mailed. It is only $9 but will be far better than just a email. They really need to figure out a mandatory training over a ban. I believe this will also help people take better care of their animals

it all has to do with extremists and a political agenda. Much of it is pushed by people with money that will benefit from the ban. If you look at HSUS there is so much out there that they should put out of business. I wonder if everyone ganged up on them and everything they have done wrong trying to get them under the microscope, if they would back off?

And it starts.

Indiana has a proposed bill trying to get passed; HOUSE BILL No. 1288

This bill is trying to amend some things. One of the proposed changes is this.

(2) "Dangerous wild animal" means the following:
(A) Except for domesticated and feral cats, all species in the family Felidae, including hybrids.
(B) Except for domesticated dogs, all species in the family Canidae, including hybrids.
(C) All species in the family Ursidae (bears).
(D) All species of family Hyaenidae (hyena and aardwolf).
(E) Nonhuman primates.
(F) All species of family Procyonidea (raccoons, kinkajous, and coatimundis).
(G) Elephants.
(H) Crocodilians.
(I) Venomous reptiles.
(J) All species in the family Boidae (anacondas, pythons, boa constrictors).
(K) Any other animal classified as a prohibited animal by the department.

its only (for now) for rocks and burmese...

I think the article is a bit vague but maybe I'm just a pessimist. We won't know for sure until they make the announcement tomorrow morning if it's *just* burms and rocks or if it will be all of the 'big 9' - Indian/Burmese Python, Northern African Python, Southern African Python, Reticulated Python, Boa Constrictor, Green Anaconda, Yellow Anaconda, Beni/Bolivian Anaconda and DeSchauensee’s Anaconda

*shakes head* I just don't see how blind people can be. Where do they think all these snakes are going to go when people move from state to state? I mean, they're the ones who think all those snakes are from people releasing their pets; do they honestly expect this bill to stop that? *sarcastic snort* I know, I'm preaching to the choir. But still.... I just have trouble getting over the Stupid.

The bias in that article is infuriating, too. The author acts--like most others--as if the Burms are the worst invasive species in the Everglades, which isn't even remotely true.

What's with the part at the bottom that Florida "effectively banned personal ownership of Burmese pythons and seven other constrictors as pets" last year? I know people need permits, microchips, etc., but that part basically says no one after July 2010 can own one of eight species of constrictors except for breeders and those already grandfathered in. Is that true? Have I been completely clueless for the past year and a half?

here is the update:

"Under the rule, Burmese pythons, yellow anacondas, and the northern and southern African pythons are declared an “injurious” species which makes it illegal to import them or sell them across state."

"Ashe said the Service will continue to consider listing as injurious the five other species of nonnative snakes that the agency also proposed in 2010 – the reticulated python, boa constrictor, DeSchauensee’s anaconda, green anaconda and Beni anaconda. Once that process is completed, the Service will publish final determinations on those species."

They don't care. Seems like they are just wanting to get acceptance from the people who hate snakes. :( Sure, I won't have a huge snake, but that is my own CHOICE! I'm simply not comfortable with them. There are so many people out there who are very responsible with their large snakes and have the proper set up, etc. People have a choice-be responsible, be prepared to take care of your snake, or be a complete idiot and dump it!

One option is to ask a zoo if they'd like it if a person is thinking of dumping a snake. Zoos happily take snakes!
They are taking away too many of our freedoms and it's got to stop!

What are they going to do? Start stopping all cars on the roads to check that no one is carrying illegal snakes? Wow, there goes the tax dollars for all that EXTRA UNNEEDED manpower!

I don't understand why yellow anacondas and not green? What's the logic behind that?

I think the list is/was comprised of the snakes deemed most potentially harmful based on surveys taken that would conclude whether or not they have established breeding populations in Florida...which would also explain why retics are not among the 4 species mentioned. What constitutes an established breeding population may be entirely subjective, but that is what I personally gather.

Va. proposed ban on reptiles/exotics sb477

Please help me to oppose Va bill sb477 that would effectively ban all exotics (no matter how small and safe) from Va. also includes most types of constrictor snakes (again regardless of how small). This is a knee jerk reaction to what happened in Ohio with the in sane person who killed himself. Va already had on the books laws prohibiting lions/tigers/bears and other predators that really could be deemed dangerous, but this new bill just goes too far and punishes everyone. There is a 1000 to 1 ratio in Va of exotic vs dog injuries/fatalities but the state isnt banning dogs (yet anyway). So please contact the senators listed below before 5 pm today! To show your strong opposition to this ludicrous infringement on our rites!!
Thanks
