A couple months ago I got a gorgeous, 17lb black blood female. I've had boa constrictors and ball pythons, so she is my first blood.
What's strange about her is how she is very 'talkative.' She huffs all the time, even if I'm not directly in contact with her. It's not a respiratory problem, and she isn't outright hissing. Now some of my boas will breathe loudly in my ear or huff when I pick them up (especially when they want to just stay where they're at). But this girl deliberately huffs at me. Are bloods talkative like this, or is it just her personality?
She isn't usually doing it as a threat. Just this morning I was helping her shed and she laid there, relaxed, head resting on her tail, while I slowly pulled the skin off. As I would pull a big chunk off, she would make a long huff. I thought she was upset, but she was fine letting me rub her head, sides, belly and tail, so she wasn't feeling threatened. Maybe it was a feel-good noise? She's done it when I would set her in the bath too when she turned blue. She makes more noise than any snake I've ever dealt with, yet has never outright hissed at me.
Just curious if this is a normal blood behavior that I should expect with others, if if my girl is just 'huffy.'
