    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have been recently tossing around the idea about buying a tortoise for my son. I had been searching for awhile and found a site that had some pretty decent looking sulcata tortoises.

I live in Maine and I know that a lot of species of animals are forbidden to own in Maine. So, I had a friend who also happens to be a game warden look into it for me so I could stay within the limitations of the law. We were both eating breakfast at the same diner the other day and I showed him a picture of the tortoise on the site. He called it in and it was confirmed that it was a restricted species and that I would have to get a possession permit.

However, he also stated that he wasn't very concerned with the species of the tortoise, but was more concerned with the size of the tortoise that they are selling. He stated that he believed that the tortoise must be at least 4 inches before it could be legally sold. He said he would get back to me about the law, but hasn't so far.

Is it legal for me to purchase a tortoise that is less than 4 inches?
