    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

If I breed a bell albino enigma het RADAR to a normal double het RADAR, I will get normals het RADAR het bell albino and RADARs, correct?

you could get enigma radars het bell, radar het bell, enigma het bell, and normal het bell. every baby will be 100% het bell and every baby thats not radar will be 66% het radar.

What do you mean by "double het"? Do you mean it's both het for bell and for eclipse?

I would assume that is what she means by double het, being that both bell and eclipse are both recessive genes. The parents would have to be a bell het radar and an eclipse het radar to make a double het radar, which is just a normal that's het for both genes.

I've just never heard anybody call it "double het" before. "Normal het Radar"conveys the same idea. It's just personal preference I guess, but I think it's clearer to say "normal het bell het eclipse", but I can't change the way people talk just by wishing it can I? :)

And I think that one parent would have to be a visual eclipse and visual bell to get a "double het" radar. If both were het for eclipse and bell then the offspring would be 50% poss. het. radar.

LMAO I'm so new with the morphs of leos, I'm so confused by what you two are talking about :eek:

Well...

a RADAR is a combination morph, meaning that there are different genes at play in the same animal. A RADAR is the Bell Albino version of a RAPTOR. The genes present are Bell Albino and eclipse. IMO, if you have a normal that is both het. for Bell Albino and eclipse, then to say "double het. RADAR" is redundant, you might as well say Normal het. Bell het. eclipse, it actually tells you what the animal is het for.

The other thing is that the term "double het" normally means that the non albino animal is het. for two different strains of albino, and they don't work together. That is very frowned upon in the herp community because it makes a genetic mess future breeding seasons.

Well, all it takes is a RADAR to a normal to get babies that are carriers for both the bell and eclipse genes. So if you bred a RADAR to a normal, all the babies would be double het RADARS, but appear normal. That is what double het means. It doesn't mean its het for two strains of albino. It means it is a carrier of two recessives traits. The term double het is much easier to type and say than a normal het bell and het eclipse. You just took a six word morph and turned it into a 3 word morph.

And if you say double het RADAR, that tells you exactly what the animal is het for. If you know what a RADAR is then you know there's only two genes that create it. Eclipse and bell albino. So double het is also a correct labeling.:thumbsup:

I'm not saying it's incorrect, just not the clearest term you could use. If you're worried about the length of the description, then just call it a normal het. RADAR. You don't really need the "double". Het. for eclipse and bell is conveyed by using the term het. RADAR, making the word double redundant.

But feel free to call 'em whatever you like, it's not gonna change the genes. :)
