In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was just curious if anyone had ever bought any hets from them? If so had you ever proved out the hets? Also, has anyone ever had any parasite problems from them? I had read something online saying they move alot of cb and wc specimens and the wc could easily transmit bacteria or parastites. I am just a little curious on the matter. Thank you all in advance for replys.

I have never actually done business with them, but I have spoken with him a lot. I know a lot of people who he orders from, and sells to and JnJ seems great to go ahead and do business with in my opinion.

You should ask them about their quarantine procedures and if the wild caught stuff is in the same building as their captive bred stuff. Things could still be transmitted from building to building via food, bedding or other items though. If you find out this information you should post it back here. Or hopefully someone who already knows will post it here.

wow - that might just be my cue to get the heck out this business.

To get back on subject - I cannot speak for JnJ's hets, but I have purchased from them, and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

I have done quite a bit of business with Josh & Jenn in the past,(will again in the future) I never had a single problem with an animal. I do know that if you have questions they are more then happy to answer them, Just pick up the phone and call them, they will take the time to answer your questions. or just shoot the breeze, they are good people.

He was asking about the possibilities of parasites being transmitted from imports to captive bred animals from an importer. All I did was tell him to ask them how they do things and that it was still possible for parasites to be transmitted through less direct contact. I gave no opinion of JNJ. I haven't delt with them before so I have no opinion. I was only trying to help the original poster find the answers he sought. Why is that the end of the world?

Thank you all for the responces, sadly the het i was looking at is sold already but thats what i get for hesitating. I did talk to him and he said that they are not kept in the same building and are never in contact with each other.

So buy a different het. And let us know if it proves out.

Sadly that was his last het of that type. and I doubt I could find one that cheap anywhere else becasue it was extremly cheap. But if I happen to find one I will definatly let everyione know if I prove it out.

I have not bought any hets from Josh but I have bought adult pastel groups last year that produced like champs this year, wierd harlequins(also produced), albino balls, and several others that I was extremely happy with. I have not spent a lot with him recently but it has probably been around 10k over the last year and I have been happy with 100% of it.

thanks

Hey All,

Also the question of disease transmittion also came up. Even is someone has dedicated buildings, and common cross contamination procedures in place it is often not enough.

Most normal business could not afford the engineered structures, one pass hepa filtered air, uv'd r/o water, and testing to prove a reptile is specific pathogen free. Current testing would run roughly 1500 per run, and 2 animals would have to be sacrificed for necropsy, tissue collection, and microscopy. Also having dedicated foot paths, providing personal protective equipment, or having a shower in shower out facility with autoclaved uniforms is another hang up for a normal business.

Resellers, and businesses that are buying offline, trading with customers, buying clutches from neighborhood breeders, and going to shows would especially have problems offering specific pathogen free animals.
Many viruses, spore forming fungi, and bacteria can be airborne or aerosolized. Also some viruses are passed to neonate from the dam. Other issues like viral dormancy can prove to be problematic. OPV, IBD, herpes, adenovirus can be dormant for years before they become active when the animal is stressed.

So it is great to be clean, but the true quarantine must be done by the end user, and we are dealing in a perishable livestock commodity so the buyer must assume some risk.

great guys

I purchased 1.1 yellowbellys from them last year. Both will be breeding this coming year. I havent found a male yellowbelly better than the one I got from JnJ

take care

Met Josh Today

I did the All New England Reptile show here in NH and made it a point to meet Josh. Funny thing is it wasn't very difficult to find him as he was standing about 5 feet away at the tables directly behind me lol. J&J had quite a few animals (lots of ball pythons and other snakes). I made Josh aware that I work primarily with dwarf boa species. As I was packing up at show's end, Josh showed me a healthy looking near adult female Costa Rican boa which ended up going home with me LMAO. Thanks Josh.
