Alright. This snake was a rescue for me. He was brought into my store in a 40 gallon breeder (for a 6', 13lb snake) and his only furnishings were the inside cotton lining of an old coat. He had no heating, no lighting, and a live rat crawling on his head. I have since moved him to a 90 gallon tank, with ample heat, lights and water. I am still working on some of the landscaping, but I have seen 100 percent improvement in the snake. When I got him, he had severe mouthrot (which I treated with shots for a month) and was fairly listless when held. I have spent the better part of 3 months getting his husbandry taken care of and nursing him back to health. I am concerned because lately he has become very alert whenever I enter the tank. That isn't to say that he has struck at me, but he whips his head around rather quickly and assumings what to me is a rather menacing posture. I have heard of some snakes becoming aggressive and unruly when in this kind of situation. I know since I plan to keep this snake until one of us isn't here anymore I should plan on getting bite eventually, however I'd rather it be later then sooner. Why has he started reacting this way? Is there anything I have to worry about? How will I know if he is genuinely being aggressive??
