In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi! I'm new here. I just recently bought a res, and I have a few questions. I have a filter, and I'm looking into getting a light, but I don't know which one to get. I was wonderng if the ESU triple combo light would be good, since it would provide the proper lighting I need. Also, I changed the water today, and it still looks cloudy. Any suggestions as to why this is?? I use the water treatment, and I have pebbles on the bottom of the tank. I was wondering if any of the turtle waste products such as Biotize or the Turtle Clean would help at all. Also I wanted to know if the turtle blocks do anything, and if calcium is good for them as well. Thanks!!

You don't need any of those chemicals for a clean tank. My guess is your tank is too small and.or your filter is too small. For tanks over 30 gallons, I suggest getting an external canister filter, such as Fluval 404, Filstar XP3, Eheim 2026 or Eheim 2028 and I hear Magnum 350s are good as well.

I run canisters on most of my tanks and never do a complete water change. About every two weeks, I change half the water. Vacuum the gravel, if I use it in that set-up and maybe scrub some algae away. That's it. The canisters do a great job at keeping the tank clean.

Cheers,
JJ;)
