In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

After 20 plus years and many attempts...patch, gum, cold...I'm trying something new:

E-cigs / Personal Vaporizers

I'm about a month in and doing great, my lungs are healing, I feel better, more energy and I'm not taking in the 4,000 plus chemicals that regular cigs have....these may not be the silver bullet so to speak but they're better than what I was using.

My plan, I'm starting with a high nicotine content, 24mg with a smoke flavored Juice/e-liquid ( that's what goes into what we'd call the filter part of a regular cig, there are different kinds of these) and then slowly working down to 18 mgs then 12, then 8 then 0!

I was VERY hesitant to try the e-cigs, but am very happy I did, no stink ,no smell, can smoke ( we call it vaping for vaporizing) almost anywhere...

Highly recommend trying it if nothing else has worked for you, it's definitely better than smoking!!!

I was directed to this brand, great reviews and has a "normal" cigarette look to the unit so it was comfortable for me to start off with.

Here's where I get my Personal Vaporizer (e-cig):

I recommend any of their tobacco flavors to start with and whatever you do do NOT get the Cappuccino juice, tastes like dirty, dry chocolate.

Also get juice here:

Wish me luck and good luck to all that are trying to quit anything that isn't healthy!

Congrats and good luck. You've done the hard part, and that's starting. The cravings do eventually go away, and you'll be free of that ball and chain.

I'll be celebrating 7 years smoke free in January. I don't miss the panic that came with knowing I only had a couple ciggs left in the pack and the relief that only came when I went out and bought more. Smokers know what I mean.

You can do it!

Wishing you the best of luck. I quit when I got pg years ago (that's not an option for you Kyle, lol) and never went back.
I know you can do it.

Congrats on your decisson to quit
From 35 yrs of first hand experience,
all the crutch options in the world will
not allow you to quit, detox and live the life
of an ex addict. It's hard to free yourself without
crutches,canes and gimmicks.

I've been in full recovery for 3 yrs, I could relapse
in a second. You must completely detox from nicotine
and hold your coarse in both your mind as well as your heart.
The second year clean was very hard for me.
This year has been better but I do know it only takes once to fall
back and loose it all.

I started smoking and quit on the very same day. I'm not exactly sure how old I was at the time, but certainly pre-teen. I decided I wanted to smoke cigarettes and be cool like the older kids and even some my own age. So when my mom was busy doing something, I snatched her pack of cigarettes off of the kitchen table and ran back into the woods behind the house.

I lit up the first one and inhaled. After the coughing stopped, I figured I probably just got a bad one. So I tried a second one. When the coughing stopped again, I ran back to the house even faster than I did from the house, plopped the pack of cigarettes onto the kitchen table and that was it. I don't think my mom ever knew. Or maybe she did. Seemed pretty hard to put anything over on her.

Later I asked my friends about it and they said I just had to get used to it, that was all. I told them that was nuts. Why make yourself get used to something that made you want to cough your lungs out? Certainly changed my perspective of those people smoking cigarettes.

Little did I realize at the time just how smart of a little kid I was.

Huge congrats to you! When I was growing up, everyone, including my parents, smoked. I was never interested, and it would've taken far more than a cigarette to make me look cool.

Now, I can smell smoke on people and places from a mile away, and I realize we all must've smelled that nauseating back then and never realized it.

Best of luck to you!

Wonderful, I'm so glad to hear it! And you're doing great! :D
Congratulations!!! And a big congratulations to Shadera, Lucille, and Tommy as well! :?party:
A family friend recently celebrated a smoke-free decade. She made the decision to quit after deciding to take up scuba-diving and I remember hearing her talk about how much more energy she had afterwards. I know she's so very happy she did. :yesnod: I can only imagine what it must have been like for you guys. I consider myself very lucky that no kind of smoke has ever appealed to me. Guess I'm sensitive, but I can barely stand breathing next to one, couldn't ever bring myself to purposely inhale it point blank...

Best of luck to you Kyle! I know you can do it!

I think some smokers find it humorous that non-smokers or ex-smokers don't want a cigarette or even be around smokers much. Many years ago when I was playing in a band in a nightclub, one of the guys there apparently found it humorous every time we ran into each other to offer me a cigarette. This went on for several days and the humor quickly wore off. So when he asked me again one evening while I was taking a break from playing, I said "Sure!", and held out my hand. He was surprised, of course, but handed me a cigarette. I crumpled it up in my hand and dropped it to the floor. Then held out my hand again and asked if I could have another.

That ended that.......

It didnt take long to go from the pan to the fire
I dip about a can a snuff a week these last several months, realized I was getting hooked on it(craving) so I need to be putting it aside pretty quick

An interesting note about smoking and diving, from my 20 years as an instructor: Under pressure, i.e. at depth, it is far easier for your red blood cells to bond to nicotine than oxygen, much like smoking several cigarettes at once. Unfortunately, it never stopped anyone I knew. After years of diving, what is the effect? Well, I was part of a group of 5 instructors, all of whom I considered my family. Two of them smoked. One died at age 43, the other at 55, both of lung cancer. Coincidence? I doubt it.

So, for what it's worth, I am personally proud of all of you who are quitting. It really does matter.

Well on my third day of my new ecig. I have smoked about 10 regular cigs since I started and noticed that the last 3 I didnt really need. Also notice I'm not hitting it like crazy like first day. Same plan as OP. Start full and slowly downgrade as I go. Wife says she can tell difference in house already. 40 years of smoking. Wish me luck!

Thanks for the well wishes all!

I'm 5 months without touching a cig now!

Still vaping ( that's what we call it) and saving money.
