In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi
I want to get a rack system. Ive seen some websites like animal plastics and such that come with the heating tape or whatever. Im new to the whole rack set up though so i wanted to ask is there anything else i need? I see stuff like thermostats, misters, etc. Im starting a ball python breeding project and just want to make sure i get everything i need. Im going to get a 6 tub rack system if that information is helpful. Also how would u go about giving the a specific about of light and dark in racks? Thanks for any help!!
Stephanie

I don't know that their's much difference comparing white to black. Personally, I like the black ones. I also highly recommend Nature's Spirit & their Snake Shacks. www.nsreptiles.com

I would try to hook up a mister to a rack system, but I guess it's worth a shot. I wouldn't really think you would need one with BPs. A thermostat is a MUST to control the heat tape.

Well Steph, racks are awsome. Aminals seem to do better in racks VS. glass tanks.

We have yet to buy any racks but have built about 8 of our own. From what I have gathered, most rack builders sell them with everything but a stat. I don't like ANY out there and thats why I built my own. There is a guy in the PA area that builds them close to mine, but I like MY toutch...........

(lol, I like my ........NEVERMIND).

Anywho, my thoughts, I don't like FB racks for balls because of the cheese (snake ) grate they are made of. If I were to buy I would got with a full plastic rack that won't sag and make bins a pain to pull out and push in.

I would do alot of research before buying. If you can, go to a show or two and check them out first hand. Or better yet, build your own or have a capable friend build it for you.

Wow, all that and I highly doubt I helped a bit..............

OK, I type slow and this two on one Steph thing has me creeped out........, Well......not really....

No mister is needed for Regius as long as you use the right substrate and they eat.

I didn't know Casey built racks. I didn't see much about them on his site. Anyone have more imput?

HMMM, well I see my phonics monkey is on a lunch break.......

I just checked out his rack!!!!!!!!!!!! I like

1/4 seems a lil thin but for the price they seem very reasonable. Interchangeable racks are always a plus as you can change bins as your critters grow.

lol sorry what i ment for light and dark is since you dont use heat lamps for heat how do u control the hours for day time and night time? for breeding purposes in perticuler.. thanks though!
Oh and i thought about building my own but i dont know..seems more complicated to me lol. If u know of a somewhat easy design though let me know.
Im def. going to go to a reptile expo though..theres one in san antonio comming up that im very excited about :) oH and speaking of that does anyone know if its cheaper to buy snakes from expos?? just curious.. thanks!

how do u control the hours for day time and night time? for breeding purposes in perticuler..

We find that the natural daylight works the best.

does anyone know if its cheaper to buy snakes from expos?

Its almost a given that better deals are to be had at the shows.

Maybe she should be Steph and me Stef (Stef is how I spell me name shortened)? :raspberry

Anyway, Casey's racks are AWESOME! I have four. They stack great, hold humidity well, are snug and I've never had a single problem. Don't have to wait weeks upon weeks for them either!

I've never had issues with light cycles useing racks. The light coming in from the 2 windows in my reptile room provide enough light.

Who in PA builds racks? My fiance is a PAIN to get to build racks...But I need 2 more done if someone could do them to match what I already have.

Same here.

Who in PA builds racks?
Um, I'd have to continue diggin. I will have that info STAT.

HEYYYY, your in PA. I do know hes close, does a good job on his racks and makes nice custom fit hides for his racks. Its kinda like ball bras.....

STUPID HIDES........................................

Wow, its past my bedtime.

I have the 6qt for hatchling-yearling cornsnakes & hognose and 15qt for hatchling boas. I would do 15qt for hatchling balls & 32qt for adult balls.

12,27 and 41qt. RACK

i have made several racks that hold three different size tubs that works well with BP's.

it has ten levels with appox. openings of 5 3/4 x 35",the 41 and 27qt. tubs are inserted sideways and the 12qt lengthways.so in each opening you have three choices: one 41qt. tub,one 27qt and one 12qt. tubs or three 12qt. tubs.

i used 5/8" melamine with belly heat,i personally would not consider back heat unless you have a very warm room to start with.have fun! TWH

Steph, I just noticed you're in Temple. I live in Killeen (20 minutes away). I have an Animal Plastics rack that holds 3 Sterilite 41qt. tubs. It has belly heat (a heat cable routed through the back 1/3 of each shelf) and is regulated by a Ranco thermostat. I have 8 snakes in my collection and thought about buying another rack, but my husband wants to build one on his own now that he knows what they look like and how they work. If you bought the materials, I can almost guarantee he'd build one for you too since you don't live far from us. He likes to do stuff to keep himself busy. :)
