    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello anyone who could explain racks.

I want to purchase a rack system. I have recently grown my collection very quickly. All kinds of snakes and lizards, and I breed my own food. Therefore, I would like to get rodent racks to. But my question is mainly for reptile racks. I have looked and looked and looked some more. Honestly, I can't figure out how they work. I know, that sounds silly, but let me tell you what I mean. I see them advertised, but I can't figure out how they are secure, how lighting works, and how heating works. I mean, I have seen heat tape and heat cord, but where does it go? If I have snakes that need a basking area, where is that at? The only time I was able to see one, was at the Midwwest Reptile Show in Indianapolis, IN. There was no way that it was secure. My snakes could just get out. And anytime I look on rack companies' websites, they just show pricing, and all of the configurations. They assume that everyone looking at them knows how they work. Therefore, I can't seem to find anyone that can help explain it to me. I need one of those "Racks for Dummies" books. Hah Hah! Please could some one explain them to me, or even get me to the right place or person to figure them out. Because curretnly I have a twelve room house with reptiles in each one, and several at that. My wife likes reptiles, but she says get racking or get packing.

Hello, i use to go to the midwest reptile show every month when i lived in Indiana, now i live in AZ... About the rack system!!! Craftsmanship is the key, you cannot have the tubs too tight or they won't slide and you can't have them too loose or the snakes will get out.. There are several manufacturers out there, but usually not very cheap.. I do a lot of woodwork so it is easy to build my own, but for someone without the tools it is kinda difficult.. The heat is usually from heat tape (flexwatt) or heat cable routered in slot with a piece of metal sheeting over the cable to evenly disperse the heat at one end of the tub.. As far as lighting none, other than what comes from natural room light through the tubs.. Usually the rack systems are hard to beat, especially if you have a lot of small to medium snakes, they save a lot of space!!! No basking spot just a warm spot for belly heat.. Check this site on the caging and feeders section for Manufacturers of rack systems!!! Good Luck and if you go to the Midwest reptile show and you see a guy that looks like Kenny Rogers and his name is Mike Anderson, ell him Mike Leonard from AZ said Hello!!!!
