I'm a researcher for a very rare and primitive canine called the American Dingo/Carolina Dog. These dogs are only found in the lowlands of the American Southeast and we hypothesis that they arrived in North America nearly 13,000 years ago with paleolithic man by crossing the Bering Land Bridge.
CD/AD's get to be about 40-55lbs full grown and stand between 20-24inches at the shoulder. These canines can live in a domestic setting but do best in an adult or older children family. Despite being raised in a domestic setting, these pups will still exhibit some primitive behaviors and all adopters should be aware that this is not like owning a labrador. These are the "dogs of nature"- so they dig, climb (similar to cats), den, howl, and make other vocalizations. They're very used to being handled and eat a grain-free diet of high quality holistic kibble and are supplemented with raw poultry. They are great with other canines but opposite gender pairs are best. Other canine family members are required to be altered as to not risk cross-breeding. THIS IS ESSENTIAL TO PROTECT THE WILD AMERICA DINGO POPULATION. CD/AD's can be escape artists so most require 6 foot fencing and dig proof gaurds. They can live inside the home beautifully.
I have a litter of pups (7 left from a litter of 12) from two wild caught parents (Dam- Hannah from Alabama, Sire- Nero from E. Tennessee). They're now 11 weeks old, had two sets of puppy shots, been dewormed 4x since birth, and are very healthy and robust kids. They were raised inside my home alongside their mother and father and handled all day long. The pups were potty trained at 5 weeks old. They MUST be fed a grain-free diet of either high quality kibble or raw diet (prey model).
Adoption donation will go to cover the cost of raising the pup as well as future research on the wild dogs remaining in the SE. $500
Male and females available. Both ginger and black&tan colors remain available. Will not ship, must pick up or arrange ground transport. I'm just outside Savannah, Georgia.
Please visit my research website to learn more about behaviors, appearance, and the history of these amazing rare dogs.
