In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Rare Monitors up for Adoption

Once again, I am shocked at the unnecessary involvement in this thread. Now I am under attack by people criticizing me just because they are disappointed or jealous that they themselves did not receive these animals. If you were truly interested in keeping these animals-without any intent to sell or make money off of them, NONE of you would be having this heated debate or argument. I do not see any reason for this.

I see people are questioning my abilities to find a suitable home for these animals, and even some people questioning my name??(in case some of you were confused or wondering, Bob and Rob are both derivatives of my full name, Robert; which I often go by either -depending on the situation at hand-business, friends, etc). I do not see why I must explain to you why my name appears differently. As you will see on the repticzone thread, my screen name there is RobMend (Rob Mandiek)... What is so inconsistent or 'suspicious' about this?

I will not say anything more about this childish name calling and accusations directed at me. I came here to find a new home for my animals, which I did, and will do nothing more here, than continue to post updates on the animals for Thomas, since he has been banned from using this site.

About the photos of the blue trees, yes, I stand corrected, and that those are both photos of the male. I will post photos of the female, and hopefully the pilbara rock monitor as well as more of the others once I hear from Thomas(he said he would include more photos of the animals and enclosures). He was supposed to email me yesterday, but I never heard from him. I am hoping to hear from him today, since he never contacted me yesterday, about their progress and if anything has changed with their condition since last time I spoke to him on Monday.

For those of you who are interested in hearing updates on the progress of these animals, stay tuned; for all of the children on this thread, please take your jealousy and grudges elsewhere. I made my decision on what I was presented, and what I found/felt to be trustworthy. If you cannot accept that, so be it. But please do not take your anger or disappointment out on me. Also remember that I decided to keep a single pair of emerald tree monitors for the time being, to see if I could manage them. Depending on how work and my free time available for caring for them goes in the weeks to come, I may be offering them up for adoption(again). See if I contact any of you 'children' who think they have what it takes, and are/have been criticizing my judgment, if the time should come where I must surrender these animals as well.

If your intentions were not money-driven, why are you all having showing such anger and resentment? These are animals which were never yours in the first place.. Your lives have not changed at all by not receiving these animals... So why the hostility??? Are you angry that you no longer have the opportunity to become 8 or 9 thousand dollars richer? YOu are specifically the type of people that I declared were ineligible for these animals... Pout all you want...

Back to what really matters, I will post some more photos later this evening if and when I get that response from Thomas. Thanks to the people who have kept their composure through all of this, and no thanks to the children who have nothing better to do than call names and insult people.

Robert(Rob)(Bob) Mandiek

I never applied, as I didn't want them. I don't know the first thing about monitors. But apparently, that wouldn't have mattered...all I needed to do was call "dibs". You had several well qualified people that were willing to take some, and you ignored them. Finding a home that would be able to take that many monitors on at once shouldn't be easy. If you had been willing to split them up, you would have had a much better chance at getting them into a good home, and not just a home. There's the key to why I'm upset. You gave living animals that are difficult to care for to the very last person that should have them.

I wouldn't be surprised if you never hear from him again. He's not banned, he's suspended pending a $10 fine. He pays that, he gets to play again.

So, is this thread going to become some new type of interactive internet soap opera?

What's with all the Psych experiments lately?

Rob/Bob, I disagree with your analysis regarding the motivation for the interest in these animals. I think that most of the people responding (and not responding) are primarily motivated by their interest in the well being of the animals. Not everyone is a capitalist all the time.

Wassa matter? Did the barbs strike a little close to the bone there, Rob? I do not believe any of us are concerned to hear updates about your parody of an adoption. Perhaps your time would be better spent fishing elsewhere, y'know trolling new waters, so-to-speak.

Still curious about the IP check on those two individuals if anyone has the ability to do so.

I has wasted enough time with Ol' Rob, I think I'll go watch some snow melt.

Hello, I am new around this thread, but I responded to this and got no reply from Bob/Rob. Im not saying im qualified for these animals, but you guys are right about the person that was picked. As young as he is, he cant have the faintest clue on housing and husbandtry of these very picky animals. My only experience is from rescued animals, so im no expert, but I know that a large monitor(manitor) needs a large home and special care. I also heard some people talking about others who build there own cages. Whats the problem with this? You guys should see some of the cages I build, and others alike build. I currently live in a state that requires me to cage my animals indoors, but this spring ill be moving to texas and most of my animals will be outside. For any of you that have had outdoor cages, you know the critters prefer it and do alot better than indoors. Anyways, I hope the (manitors) survive and Ill probably find them on Reptibid or Kingsnake in a few weeks when he relizes what he has gotten into. It was funny reading all your threads, after the move, ill give some lizards and snakes away just to see what happens. LOL.

If you have the skill to build your own cage, that's very good. I'd do it if I knew how and had the tools.

The point was, that seems to be all the guy knows how to do, which is not enough knowledge to keep any animal. It's kinda like saying "I know how to boil water, so now I'm going to make a 7 course meal fit for a king!" The rest of the much needed knowledge just isn't there.

Completely different IP's. Already checked days ago.

Thanks, Dennis, if there was a post about that I must have missed it. Sure did seem like a distinct possibility, though.

Hmmm, weather's gotten cold again. Now I'll watch snow fall...

As Shanti said, the problem had NOTHING to do with this person building his own cages, (unless you consider the fact the he was "tearing apart his old chicken coop behind his trailer" to build them...chickens carry disease), the problem would be with the fact that he had NO KNOWLEDGE on how to care for any of these animals even if he did build suitable enclosures. Nor did it appear he would have the financial means to properly feed them or provide needed medical care.

That, and I think that the original poster was full of it (as well as full of himself). I never wanted these animals, I just was concerned, as were many others, for the welfare of the animals. If you find the fact that there were people truly concerned for these animals amusing enough to "give away some snakes and lizards" later just to "see what happens", IMO something is really wrong.

Maggie, I hope you enjoy your snow....it's warmed up here, and I'm going go continue to watch ours MELT. :raspberry

OK, I probably should have just put up a screenshot of that...if someone smarter than I could do it, I'd appreciate it..... ;)

Try the second one I posted....I dunno why the first one doesn't work.

Hey Billy, Bob, Rob

I have no desire for your animals and would not take them if you paid me. Not my cup of tea.
I only know if they were my animals and I needed to find a home for them, that I would not have made such a hasty decision. The timeline of your post and decision is suspect. Not one single member that posted on this thread was contacted as you said. The majority of the posts were made over the weekend but you did not view them because as you said you were not around.

Then how could you read all the post early Monday morning, have a long conversation about his prison life, ship the snakes to California, explain to this guy what a digital camera is, let alone use one. LOL, OK, maybe that is too harsh. The points being I think you are full of it, IMHO.

But none the less, if true they are your animals to do with at will. Have a good one.

I must point out, that is a lie him stating that he was not on this thread over the weekend. Many times I saw his SN in the "Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread" section during the weekend.

*** And he was just on while I was typing this post, but now he's gone... :>poke2<:
