In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Really why all the different names with same morph?

Is it me or does it seem we have a overpopulation of egomaniacal people in our hobby who feel the need to rename the same morph or ad their name to it as their own line?
Lets get real a butter is a damn lesser platinum, the new pastels (fader gene, citrus whiteout, superdupers) are producing similar effects to a Ruppel pastel that has been around forever.(Although not many around) Now with ghosts there is some difference because lines, some are not compatible but i know of 3 that all look the same with different names and when bred together they make a hypo. :shrug01:
There are no lines of pieds, breed one pied to any other you get a pied.
Is this ever going to end? I cant believe that there are so many in our hobby with their mundane lives that they feel the need to rename a animal that quite honestly they have no claim to.
The people that produced the animals FIRST or brought them into our lives earned that right and we belittle the things they did to make our wonderful hobby as great as it is. Just because you buy a wild caught doesnt mean its a new line. Can you prove without a doubt it has a different genetic makeup than the original one brought over? (let me answer this for you before i get a bunch of nonsense responses, unless your a Geneticist the answer is NO)
I just wonder if anyone else feels the same way and also what the different opinions on the matter are.
As you can probably tell this is a huge pet peave of mine LOL.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Now where's that Goblin...I mean yellowbelly, I mean Peach ghost, no I mean Sulfer or Fire or was that a Lemon Back or ....oh I give up

I produced a lot of mojaves last year. Hmmm....I think I'll name my new line, "Jackson's Mojo" (and that "j" is pronounced like a J, not an H)!:rofl::rofl:

Dude, your mojaves are one of a kind. They deserve their own name :)

Thanks for the compliment, but I can't take TOO much credit. I just had a great sire and some good looking females. They did all the work (except for scooping their own poop!!)! :D

OP'r

You are probably going to get a nice CH female Pastel from Africa one day, and totally name it something else...trust me, it is easy to lob opinions from the cheap seats, but wait until it happens to you. The are MANY factors at play, that most of the newbies do not even consider, when they make posts like this.

Lol David you ass ume way to much. Just because i just joined this forum last year doesnt make me a noob. My family (especially my step father) has been keeping snakes a long time. Your just butt hurt because you fit into the category i was referring to. I promise you that with all your lets blow myself up crap with calling people noobs. You look in the mirror and find something lacking. Thats why you TRY to be a big man in a hobby. Hope you feel better about yourself lilone. Oh and if the cheapseats means living a good life in scottsdale with a wonderful collection of animals we love away from simpletons like yourself so be it. There are no factors other than your own personal vanity. Stop riding the coattails of others and do something orginal to make yourself noted if thats what you seek.

Your post is very hard to read. I like Scottsdale, I hand delivered a snake there one time, pretty fun place to visit. As far as fitting into a category, maybe I do fit into the category of buying a petstore snake and proving it out. Not many people have purchased two snakes the same day and had both prove out genetic. 90% of my collection is thanks to the Sulfur female, so say what you like about the project, but it has done ok by me.

I never called you a newbie, go back and read what I wrote. I said newbies often post threads like this because they do some research, read one book and all of a sudden are an expert, and then come to some conclusion that a YB and Goblin should not have different names. It is an old and tired arguement that never goes anywhere...but knock yourself out.

Dave

Well let me ask you some question. If i bred your sulfur to a fire what would it produce? If a butter and a lesser are bred together do you get BELs? If a goblin is bred to a yb do you get Ivories? See where i am going with this. Genetics say its the same animal when it produces the superform not I. Im just bringing this up because it is getting rediculous. Now you have new people claiming lines of pieds. You cant tell me this isnt boardering on insanity. No wonder anyone new is having a hard time with stuff we are confusing the hell out of them.

When I made my post in this thread, I wasn't aware of the seriousness of the OP's thoughts on this subject. While I agree that there are some folks looking to get their name on an already proven morph, I still agree that there are plenty out there that are very similar, but deserve to be named differently, as they DO produce differences, some more subtle than others.

I prefer the orange bellies over yellow bellies, in part because I like the looks that the adults keep (at least the few I've seen), and because of the graphite super, instead of "plain" ivory. The sulfur makes (at least IMHO) a much nicer super than the fire. These are only a couple of many examples.

There is a pretty good thread on BP.net reguarding the Sulfurs. If you look up Sulfur=Fire, it is a good read. It also tells you how to get to the Wet Ceal Pastel Sulfur thread that I think has the entire Sulfur story.

Lets get real a butter is a damn lesser platinum

Well considering the butter was proven in 2001 and the lesser wasn't proven until 2004 I think you meant to say is that a lesser is a damn butter.....

Yes, butter, lesser, mojo, russo, and I guess the crystal and special should all just be called het blue eyed leucistic gene complex thingy.... :shrug01:

I agree with him that the naming is a little carried away at times. But it's a lot worse with the ridiculous combo names.
