In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I've decided to give coconut oil a try in my cooking (seems to be superior in most aspects to vegetable, canola, etc oils), but there are alot of different extraction processes used, and the stuff is expensive as :censored:.
I'm looking for opinions on specific brands or types that you've actually used and liked (so I don't waste money buying something that ends up turning rancid early, or tastes TOO much like coconut for everyday cooking).

Thanks!

We use exclusively coconut oil and evoo for cooking.

My hands down favorite is the Tropical Traditions gold label virgin coconut oil, though you would probably want one of the less pure ones if you don't want any coconut flavor. They have specials often - bogo, free shipping, etc, and the products are fantastic.

Thanks Tommy! How would you rate the level of coconut smell/taste when you cook with it (say on a scale of 1 to 10)?

There is none,its clean
Not a good choice for deep frying but it will take higher heat then other
known cooking oils like canola.
The wife uses it in her awesome homemade soaps, but I steal it for
cooking :D everything taste like what it should and not greasy.
Thats why its the best for homemade popcorn, using some tonight in
a Venison/Nopalitos stir fry......AWESOME!!

crap  heres the pic

Coconut oil is used for EVERYTHING over here, from body and hair moisturiser, through soap, to cooking, and I think only the very impure versions (such as home made in villages) give much coconut taste when cooked with. If it's virgin and clear I wouldn't hesitate.

Just one tip - don't panic if you are in a cold climate and it turns white with solid flakes - it's very temperature sensitive and that all melts back to normal once it's heated.
