In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

bottom line. she bought and animal and changed her mind. i told her my policies and she didn't like it so she cried to paypal. btw...i talked to paypal. when i told them to refund the whole amount, they asked me why bc there are no guarantees w/live animals and that she was screwed but i decided to give her a full refund to wash my hands of this.

Do you have your emails to Paypal? You were going to enforce the 'restocking fee' but all of a sudden when she disputed the transaction you allege that Paypal was telling you that 'she was screwed', but then you haloed up and gave her a full refund. Somehow that just doesn't ring true.

there's no reason for me to lie..it's all over and the refund has been given. after seeing all the responses on here to just end it, i did just that. i never emailed w/ paypal. i called them. the responses to the claim i already posted in the original post. that's all the "emailing" i did w/ paypal. like i said, paypal doesn't have any guarantees when it comes to live animals. they said there's no way she would get the full refund but i wanted to just get this lady out of my mind and business.

to be honest....was surprised at the responses on here saying this was petty. i was posting it warn other sellers bc this lady thought she was above my tos and she'll think the same of other seller's tos. so i thought why not warn others just in case she tries to pull this off again. then the reactions of this was petty and unnecessary??? well, then why have a boi at all? isn't it help other buyers AS WELL AS sellers?

Wow - I clearly misread this thread last night....

Anyway

I somehow doubt that was how the conversation went.
While PayPal doesn't offer guarantees with live animals, I believe it ultimately would have come down to the fact that you didn't ship...and PayPal would have awarded a refund.

Doesn't matter - in the end, you made the right move by refunding. Hopefully you've both accepted this as a learning experience.

i called them.
I think they told you that because you did not ship, they would offer a full refund to your buyer.
I think you refunded because if you did not refund, Paypal would have resolved the case in the buyer's favor.

I see your argument and theres valid points but..

I do see your side rottsko and didn't mean to rattle your chain by saying it was petty but all B.S. aside it kinda was man. One way to fix this problem from happening for you in the future would be to make all sales final but still honoring how ever number of days health guarantee. That way once you receive payment the sale is finalized. No way a refund would have to be given unless when the animal was received it was in ill health, which with your animals I would doubt that ever being a problem...

I'm not sure what a restock fee in this case is for. I own a pet store, and if someone buys an animal, and then decides to bring it back, I charge a re-stock fee of 25% to cover the cost of setting up a new enclosure, and the time I or my sales people spent selling the animal in the first place. But for on line sales, what is there to re-stock? It's not like the Chameleon was already boxed up.

It's to treat it for sold parasites.. Really though, reading your TOS, I'd never do business with you. No refunds for late packages is BS. If you require a signature, then there should be no problem. The fed ex driver who has the route which my house is under actually puts the live animal packages in the front with him. But he is never really on time. The package can arrive at 9 am, or once 7 pm. Also, Fed ex does offer insurance, which does cover losses. Finally, if I found out my package was at the nearest fed ex hub at 1030, I wouldn't be able to get there by 11 being that the nearest hub is around 25-35 minutes away.

Exactly

Agreed ken those were my thoughts exactly. Alot of shops in my area do the "all sales final" thing just to keep people that make impulse buys and change their minds a week or two later from coming back for a refund with a usually neglected animal. Probably not the best move rottsko but it would keep money on your side of the table which seems like the overall issue that this comes down to..
