I am guilty of trying to save a program that has helped many kids to find out about themselves and others. LOL. I have been accused of using what I do and my kids as a front for putting together a collection of expensive snakes. Anyone here guilty of trying to put together a good collection? Anyone else here guilty of trying to instill pride, knowledge, and honor into a group of kids by showing them all the different sub-species of boas that are out there? Anyone else out there that wants to show kids the most beautiful snakes you can show them? I have 23 snakes. They are all different aspects of boas from low end to high end.

I wish I had the money to put together Arabesques, snows, bloods, etc. I do have one albino now. She is a foot long and growing. She is beautiful. I have a couple of nice hypos (at $150 I was able to put a couple of nice ones in my class). I bought the most beautiful hypo I have ever seen from Marc & Erin Buhaly. $565 and a bargain. It took me two months to pay it off. Oh, by the wy, for those of you that ask: "Gee, John, where do you get the money for the snakes, cages, food, thermostats, heating lamps? Do you steal that from your kids, students, school, school board?" Good question. Except for the initial money that was spent on our original cages. all of the money has come from my pocket. "well gee John you must be rish" NOT, I am a teacher. I make less than 40K a year. "Hey John, are you breeding?" Another good question. Yes, I am breeding. 40% of everything that is born is GIVEN to my kids. "Given?" Yes, given. The rest is reinvested into the project. "Why are you doing this, John?" I am doing this so my kids/students get a great experience and so I can also take care of my real kids. I take money from my household, and return it, with a few extra bucks. I sell absolutely no snakes on the grounds - to the students. If they want something, I get it for them at cost.
