• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Below is a copy of the complaint I registered with Kingsnake this morning.

I have a complaint against Reptile Depot, and when I spoke to Jeff last week, he asked me to forward this complaint to you for documentation.

On July 10th, I placed an order for crickets. I did not receive the order for almost 2 weeks - but nor was I charged. After receiving the order, I went to balance my checkbook, and discovered that I had been charged 2 times. The $15.95 shows 2 times on my statement on July 17th.

On July 28th, I emailed them and informed them of the mistake, and asked they take care of it. I received an email back saying they would give me a credit for the overcharge.

As of today, August 21st, they have STILL not credited my account, nor will they reply to my emails any longer when I inquire to why this has not been taken care of or how much longer it will be.

Now I realize it is not a huge amount, but If they are stealing 15.95 from several people a week, I'd say they are making a nice little profit.

This was the first time I've had a problem with an order from them, but it will be the last order I place with them because of the neglect and lack of service.

Thank you,

I was double charged once (for 350$&#33 and it was my bank's fault, not the person selling to me. Well, it might have been the fault of authorize.com too, we were never sure. Anyway, I called my bank and they got it worked out. That might be a good way to get your 15$ back, but not your crickets .

I have done quite a bit of business with Reptile Depot, and have used a credit card everytime with no problems. I think that Reptile depot use Retilefood.com for there cricket orders, and maybe there is some mix up with them. I have purchased herp supplies, and herps from them with out any problems with my credit card.

I can not see them giving you a problem with this. I have met some of there employees at shows, and they have all seemed like good people.

I think if you give them a chance to take care of it they will. I would try and talk to someone by phone and I bet it gets cleared up.

I would do business with them again.

Thanks for your replies.

I too, have ordered things with them on several occasions and never had a problem before, and was surprized that this became such an issue.

I did CC them into my complaint email to kingsnake.com, and that finally got a reply. I received an email from them this morning saying they had found the overcharge and have issued my credit. I'll post again when I see the credit appear on my account, but am not holding my breath, as I was told before it would be taken care of.

It does bother me though that it took so much for them to finally look into it and make it right, and that when they finally did, the emails I received last night were rather snooty, as if I had not even given them the chance to correct this. In one email, they even told me I was over-reacting.

This whole incident has left a REALLY bad taste in my mouth, especially with the attitude they gave me last night.

I'll just throw my 2cents in here too...straight forward and to the point-won an auction for an aluminum framed screen enclosure for chameleons from them...payed for it through paypal...1 week, no box, 2 weeks, no box, 3 weeks, no box...attempted contact by email with no reply repetedly...called on several occasions, on one of them the clerk that answered used a mid-eastern accent-not too professional if you ask me-was told that the manager was out for the weekend to a show and would be back in monday at 10 pm...called monday at 2pm and was told that the manager was not in, i confronted the clerk that he had personally told me that the manager was going to be in at this time on this day and low and behold the manager came to the phone. go figure...he said that he couldn't locate our order or any shipping history for it and asked to send the paypal conformation email to him so he could more acurately check his records for the order. sent it out...no reply either by phone or email for 3 business days...called again...the manager claimed that he couldn't find any history of it being shipped. at this time i demanded that he refund my money back to me via paypal while i waited on the phone. the transaction took place and he stated that he would send a cage to me at no cost for my inconvienience- this was stated both on the phone and in an email- this was more than 3 weeks ago and still no further contact from reptile depot. i've written it off and will never do business with them again or recommend them to anybody
so much for short but hey, was rather disturbing to have a large business treat a patient customer in this manner.

they seem to pick and choose whom they will treat decently....I've always been completely ignored by them at their store and at shows....fine, you don't want a $500+ sale? I'll take my time and money elsewhere.

I realize this is an old thread but I'm so irritated with this company, I thought I'd add my 2 cents.
I've never purchased anything from Reptile Depot and I never would in a million years. They got my email off the Kingsnake forums and classifieds and have been spamming me for the last year. I have never visited their website or expressed any interest in doing business with them yet I still get 3-4 emails a day from them.
Their business practices are no different than the annoying telemarketers that we all hate so much. I've emailed them to be taken off their spam list but the emails continue.
In my opinion they are in the business of harrassing people and they'll never get one penny from me.
