I think I have something to say. first off I have done business with randy for years. I can homestly say he is a stamd up guy. I have had no problems with any animals I have received. As far as bud goes, I have seen him in action personally. I beleive he should have his hots taken away and he should be thrown in jail for reckless endangerment. I witness him at Glades herp several years ago freehandling an assortment of venomous animals(Gabby's , Cottonmouths, EDBs , and other odds and ends). Bill Pierce had to be firm so to speak with Bud and insisted on Bud to seice and desist. Bud has no repect for what he is dealing with and no care about who it affects. I am at ends with reckless venomous keepers . It is our responsablity to be safe not to endanger other people or ourselves. Randy as far as I am concerned is a great person to deal with and represents his animals correctly , and would not knowly sell sick animals. I have not heard from any of my friends who have dealt with him have any problems. Actuallly they have all raved about him. Thats what I got to say.

I answered it call bob since I did not want to get involved.
But I remember the dead snakes ok.

Aut then randy explodes with a almost prewritten script
but he forgot to proof read it first before hitting enter.

Then randy back tracks in his next post almost 180%

That was the most guilty outburst I have ever see except in a old perry mason movie.

And all I said was call bob!?


So all these new guys register to join in this argument.

I was Trading in some snakes people like to examine
each and every animal just as you would do if it was you.
All I was doing was helping by showing him each snake.
If you were scared why did you not run and scream?

I have my facts perfectly straight. I have read your numerous rediculous posts on kingsnake. You have no business handling hots and yes I have seen you in person. I work with venomous and inspect all my animals before handing over cash. For some reason I able to do this without endangering myself or the people around me. You are careless and I feel this all plays into your credablity. I rember the incident like it was yesturday , it happened about a year and half ago. As far as Randy goes I think you have some grudge and are slandering because you did not get your way. Do us all a favor a quite the hobby before you ruin it for all of us.

Reptile Locators

I recently completed an order of snakes and lizards from Reptile Locators. We had a glitch on our end with someone who was less than reputeable but Randy was patient and understanding and helped us work through it and provided us with a very nice variety of animals. He guided us through ordering and shipping and was always available when I had questions and was helpful in advising me in what to and not to order. We are in the process of placing our second order with Reptile Locators. Honest, Helpful and Friendly. That also applies to his wife too!

My time to interject

I have been reading all of this and just taking it with a grain of salt.

I can say that Randy is 110% honest and reliable. I had ordered a number of Ball's from Randy that I knew were WC not treated and fresh of the plane (so to speak). Well after 5-10 days I had a couple that passed on me (One really nice Yellow/Orange Female, that one hurt) and Randy happened to call me a week later and asked how the animals were doing and I told him what had happened. Randy immediately said hey I'll replace them I didnt ask I didnt insist, he out of his own free will decided to replace them.

Since then I have now place yet another order with him with out any thought.

ALso Bud whoever the guy is you seems to always go back to Well all I said was ask Bob, However I do not see anyone coming to your defense.

Yes I know that the reptile world has its clicks which seems that you are not a part of. Good thing Bad thing who knows all I know is that I have not heard anyone say anything positive.

I don't have to call and send everyone to come here to get their 2 cents in on randy. like he has done to me.
I never said he was a bad person or dishonest or other wise.

your story was good but im still out cash and still no snake.

just call bob a guy that got a bad shipment from randy.
many dead snakes.
has randy denied the bad snakes no.
has anyone called bob or asked randy?
even some guys got rid of some of the snakes to me and they all died if randy is so good and fair and honest why not admit it and tell us if bob was repaid ?

I still want either a mojave or my 70.00 back.
He says 50 but I paid bob 70 high for a mojave.
when nearly a whole shipment dies then replacement snakes die also it does not take rocket science to figure it out.

As an uninterested party, meaning I have no financial stake in what I write here, I have a couple of observations.

When the original inquiry was posted, Bud wrote "Ask Bob" and then the proverbial crap hit the fan.

I don't recall Bud making any other remarks until the rather "explosive" reply out of Mr. Ellis.

I don't claim to be a psychologist or anything of the sort, but after 45 years of observing human behavior, I would have to say that Bud must have hit a nerve in order to get "both barrels" the way that he did.

Now that this has turned into a "Bud Roast" instead of what the thread was originally intended to accomplish, find out whether "Reptile Locators" is a good company to deal with or not, I suppose I'm next in line for "sticking up" for Bud....

I would submit to you that I am not doing anything of the sort.... just attempting to interject a little objectivity into what I have read so far. As far as I know, Mr. Ellis is a great guy to do business with, because we have never completed a transaction and I have no personal knowledge of his business practices. We have, from time to time, discussed a few animals, but we have never come to terms on a sale. Bud and I have exchanged a few emails over the years, but I would not call him a friend, and we have never done business either....

So, I would suggest that instead of repeating the same things over and over again, that you let the person who made the initial inquiry decide whether HE wants to call Bob or not, thereby making HIS decision based on the facts.... not whether Bud Merkley is a cool guy or not.... if the potential buyer calls Bob and decides to buy or not buy from Mr. Ellis, then that's the way the board is supposed to work.... if Bob has nothing to add to or detract from the character of Mr. Ellis as a businessman, then there is obviously nothing to fear from having the potential buyer making a toll-free phone call.....

None of the rest of this has any importance in whether Reptile Locators can or cannot be trusted to deliver as promised.

Personally, I would not allow this thread to change my mind about buying from Randall. If I were inclined to buy from him I would. If I were not inclined to buy from him, I would not. This has gone so far off into left field (what does self immunization have to do with Randall's character???) that it is no longer even about Reptile Locators.... it's about ganging up on somebody that merely said, "Call Bob"......... what's the harm in that?

I See It Like This

It seems there are some people that will troll another and haunt them until the end of time. I've spoken to Randy and he told me Bud's been making negative remarks and whining for over a year now so I can understand why he reacted the way he did after seeing this thread. It was kind of the, I'm sick of this crap type of response and he wasn't going to take it quietly.
I see a situation here that parallels the thread on Dr. Jay Owens. Everybody thinks Randy's a good guy except one person. I think all of the positive support here for Randy is merited and credible.
I have yet to have read a legible turn of events from Bud and I really don't care to hunt down an 800# to call Bob. I think Bob's a big boy that should be able to come on here and post for himself if he has something to add.
I'm not trying to discredit Bud but I think it's time to either let it go or try to work out whatever it is he's after directly with Randy. It's pretty clear there's nothing constructive being done by Bud's posts in this thread.
Funny there's no other negative comments from anyone else here. Everything I've seen is positive. This started out as an inquiry on Reptile Locators and I think the answer's pretty clear that Randy's a good guy to deal with.

well let me see if I'm understanding this,
a man with whom we had no dealings with ,and that said in one of his post He got the animal or animals from someone else is wanting us to refund or replace his animal or animals ?
someone help me out here! I'm confused with this issue. is that like if someone buys an animal and has a problem or is not happy with it. we should tell them to go to whom ever we got the animal from. to get the refund or replacement some how I don't think it works like that.

Randy was the one that called me to pick up snakes from
some guys that did not want them so I figured this would
take care of the dead one but THEY all died TOO!

I don't hear any denials from randy or wife about the dying snakes.

The mojave was my original purchase it was clearly going to die when picked up I had no dought they bob and randy would take
care of it with me.

The other snakes were to make up for the deal but they died also
almost all of the hots in the shipment bit the dust fast.

so still out a mojave or 70.oo
not to mention all the pain and suffering from being hosed.
made to drive all over the state ect...

This was one of the reasons I have decided to get out of hots
it seems that there are too many dealers out there that just don't care about hot snakes and neglect them by just letting them sit till they sell by the time they sell them its too late to for them to recover.
some dealers wont ship a snake till they know its ok but quite
a few sell them ahead of time them get the delivery an give them out as is trusting the guy that shipped them in this case
DYING.

Im through with it and all the brain dead amnesia victims
they shure like taking the money don't they.

I thought you got the snake from Randy, if so why would Bob take care of it? If you got it from Bob, why would Randy have to take care of it?

May I be certain I understand exactly what you are saying here?

1. You bought a snake from Bob
2. Bob had it drop shipped from Randy?
3. You had a problem with the snake--it died.
4. WHO received the money for the snake?
5. In replacement for the snake Bob sold you, Randy sent you snakes that also died?

If you bought the snakes from Randy, why bring Bob into the equation. If you bought them from Bob, why bring Randy into the equation?

Interesting comment about the reptile business Bud. You obviously are not careful where you get your animals from, and are not very familier about how virus and bacteria work. To say you are getting out of the hot business because of dealers, you must not be aware that most dealers treat all of their animals in that way,which is horrable and bad karma. Why are you buying sight unseen if you have so many problems? I agree that there are a huge number of dealers that only care about money but there are many that care about quality. Jay from exotic Jungle , Randy , Diamond reptile just to name a few. It seems to me you need to brush up on your quarinteen procedures and your basic husbandry techniques. being a venomous keeper I try to keep myself aware of what problems are out there. To my surprise no one in the hot business cares about paramixo(OPMV). I personaly have blood drawn on new arrivals and tested by the Elliot Jacobson's lab. Even if the animals shows 0 titer I still quaranteen for 6 months. Different room, different handling equipment. This is my last post on this thread as it is getting tiresome. On February 21st, I received my first shipment of snakes from Randy Ellis at Reptile Locators. He represented his animals accurately, the price I paid was excellent and his shipping box, which he made himself, was the best I've ever seen. I look forward to doing business with Randy again and will encourage my friends to do so also. I wish everyone in the reptile business was as honest and straightforward as Randy.
