    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi Donna. Thank you so much for all the prayers and good thoughts. It must be working because I can kinda move and the fever is gone! :D

My knight in shining armor and my fierce warrior.
I don't know what to do with him, but I don't know what I would do without him.

Just remember how very fortunate you are to have a man like Tim in your life!! From his PM, I can tell you that you are his life!! There aren't too many men like him left!!!

And remember-you have a TON of new friends pulling for you, your family and your animals!!

BTW-does Tim have any single brothers or cousins in their 40's or 50's?? If they like herps and other animals, too, have them join up and message me!!! LOL!!!
 
LOL! Thanks, Donna. Yeah, I have grown kinda fond of him over the years. He's my sweet, gentle warrior thats tenacious as a pit bull when it comes to protecting his family. I really lucked out.

I've redone the front page of the site. I'll be working on the other pages and adding a message board over the course of the next few days. If you all have a second, please check it out and tell me what you think. She didn't know it at the time, but Donna inspired me to make some huge changes and along with it, change the vision of where we'd like to go with this. So here it is: http://www.mayantraders.com
Take a look and tell me what you think. We also want to put the name Mayan Traders out to pasture. We'd like something that reflects our purpose, but I am horrible at names. Any suggestions? (Seriously. I'm really bad at this)

I thought about "Reptile Riders" but that sounds like a SyFy Network movie.

Well, I tried talking her into Hogs and Herps, but she got all girlie and said pigs freak her out. :rolleyes:
Also did a basic search on herps and kept getting links to Herpes Treatment and Support. That was some images that I didn't need to see. :ack2:
She told me that would happen, too. Just had to go and find out for myself. I regret that now.
 
Ugh!! Woke up this morning to more calls from Town Hall and Animal Services.

Town Hall is adamant we HAVE to get a business license and I'm waiting on the call back from Animal Service.

The saga continues!
 
I just got a wonderful phone call from Mayor Montgomery. He wanted to talk to me about the problems we're having.
He has reached out to assure me that even though the neighbor has issues, the Town itself doesn't. When we meet with them Wednesday, we'll go over all of the protocols town has in place and come to some sort of agreement.
As politicians go, he's a good man. He called me directly and addressed all my concerns. He understand the frustration and the anger and wants to help to make things better.
I have to give him credit. He said back in July that he would help us in any way he can and he's holding to his word.
Someone FINALLY listened. THANK YOU!!!!
It was the best phone call I've received in months.
 
The HOA has rendered their "verdict."
They cited two seperate articles in the bylaws that they allege we're violating.

One states that no additional dwellings can be added to a residence (ie: worksheds, detached garages, etc.)
Our animals are in the attached garage, no structures have been added.

The other is under "Nuisances"
No obnoxious or offensive trade or activity to become an annoyance or nuisance to the neighborhood.

The only thing that could be construde as a nuisance is the continuous complaining this old woman did to get us out of here, and according to their judgement, it must have worked.



They also state that we sell snakes on our website and held a yard sale specifically to sell the snakes.

The yard sale was to sell books and kids toys. Normal yard sale stuff. No one could access the garage without permission. And I have not ever, do not now, or will ever sell any reptiles on my website.

They have to be removed by Friday, September 29th. (Lucky for us, Friday the 29th doesn't happen for another 17 years, eh?)

The entire report was a string of lies and, as expected, no one has had the juevos to even ask us anything.

So now have we not only been harassed, we can now include slander.

Huh?? First of all, they must be on some damned good drugs if they don't even realize when their target date is...which doesn't surprise me.

Second-do you still have to remove them, since they have no idea when they have to be removed by??

I have been following this thread and I am completely appalled. This is awful. Is there anyone you can trust your animals with while you're fighting for them? What can you do? Is there anything WE can do?

I am beyond words, I am so sorry, K. I wish you both the best.
 
Thank you. Its been a nightmare, but we'll get through it. There has been quite a few wonderful folks here that have offered to foster some of our brood until we can get past all of this.
It just amazes me that this amount of discrimination is tolerated in todays society.

Donna - Sorry, my brain cramps are contagious. :)
Since no one will release any names, we're still assuming its the one woman whos son emailed me. Hopefully the attorney can find out more.
 
It's great that people are coming together to foster your "kids" if you have to move them!! Hopefully that won't be necessary!!

I'm having a severe attack of CRAFT (Can't Remember A F***ing Thing), hon...you're not contagious!!

I hope the lawyers can pry names out so you have someone you can go after!! And also you know who you have to avoid!!

How can they say your animals are a nuisance since they dont roam the neighborhood.

That would be like saying the old lady down the street having sex in her home is a nuisance :shrug01:

What your doing does not effect anyone in that neighborhood. It is done in the privacy of your own home... and as of now.... keeping snakes is not Illegal.

Personally... Id have your lawyer supena thier records for the name of the old bitty... and Id sue both the HOA and the old bitty. Both animal control AND the NC Fish and Wildlife have sided with you. Your doing everything legal... and both the HOA and this woman is harassing you.

Please tell me you have a document with that date in writing.... you can use that to your advantage. :thumbsup:
