Old Snake Bat
While I am not a cold novice at snakes in general, neither am I a proficient expert either. What I am is a passionate owner (and first season breeder) of Ball Pythons and Red Tail Boas. I love my creatures - heart and soul. I am also an animal activist, having run a Doberman Rescue (which I founded) for over a decade. Health issues put me out of the rescue venue, so my time is spent caring for my snakes - all named, all loved, all cared for, and all unique.
Several weeks ago I stumbled across Reptiles by Design and Brent and Jennifer Sheets - owners/creators. What caught my attention was a posting from them regarding the local laws and restrictions that their city had somehow decided to impose on them - after several years of doing their work where they were - forcing them to move or loose their entire business. That got my dander up!! Anyway, I began to follow their quest for reason and logic, at the same time discovering their amazing animals!! I began to drool!!
Over the next 2 or 3 months, as I followed them on Face Book, I opted to purchase some of their stock of Ball Pythons they posted to help raise the funds needed to find another home and move. Beautiful pictures of snakes were posted, and frankly, I had a hard time staying within my financial limit I had to set, as I am on a fixed income. I saved, scrimped a bit, and stashed some funds aside and was given the advantage of their payment plan to pay off my chosen animals. It all paid off this past Thursday!
On Thursday, a large package of 4 BP's arrived, right on time, and in perfect shape. I was like a kid at Yuletide!! As I opened each bagged critter, I was greeted with the most amazingly well fed, and kept snakes I've ever seen! All 4 were due to be fed the next day, but all 4 were in tip-top shape and each immediately expressed its interest in exploring me - my neck, my pockets, my lap, arms, etc. Only 1 little guy was a bit on the shy side (well they ARE BP's!), but with a little warming touch, a bit of stroking and talking (I know they don't have ears, but they feel the vibrations) even he - a GORGEOUS Caramel boy I've named "Butternut" - came around and began to show his interest in the new surroundings. I WAS IN HEAVEN!!
I could go on, and on....and on, but suffice it to say that having purchased other BP's from breeders before, these guys are the nicest, healthiest, most stable BP's I've received yet. NO other snakes I've had shipped EVER took their first meal within 24 hours of arrival, and have shown the mellow attitude these gorgeous guys and gals displayed.
I give RBD, Brent and Jennifer a huge 2 thumbs up, and hope to establish a long lasting relationship with them. They've become valued mentors for this amateur, and I am honored to have come across them and their business!!
