In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy ReptMart

If they said they would send out a replacement animal, then that is what it is. They are under no obligation to give a cash refund. I would have waited more than 5 days to go pounding them on the internet. This thread is way to premature to say the least. I'm sure they are very busy, seeing how they are in the top two of the largest reptile dealers in the country.

They weren't too busy to contact me promptly before the money was sent. If you are too big to take care of the customer, you are nothing. All it would have taken is one email to let me know a refund would be sent. This is exactly why people don't trust reptile breeders and it's sad you have the mentality that after you get the money we have to accept whatever you dictate and at your timing. I did nothing wrong and after reading the statements from some of the people here i will never purchase another reptile online. Petco can special order for me. Thank you for the insight into your business as a whole, this has been a great learning experience for me.

The OP did jump the gun in my opinion, however for people stating he did not deserve a refund... well that is completely ridiculous.

If I bought something that was not what I wanted and arrived dead- you better beleive I would lose all faith in that person/company and would want a refund, not another snake.

Along the same lines if I sent someone something that was the wrong animal and dead I would offer them a refund or another animal- their choice- as they are the customer. That is good business IMHO

UPS has not stopped all shipments of snakes. They put a stop to all of the third party shippers that were using them like SYR, and whatever the other one was. UPS allows some of the big reptile dealers to use them for shipping. ReptMart probably ships out a few hundred boxes a day. A lot of the other reptile dealers ship just as much. UPS is not going to lose that kind of revenue.

ReptMart should not give him a cash refund. The OP bought a snake, and that is what he should get. If a mistake was made, they will fix it. The fact the snake died is not PeptMart's fault. That can happen to anyone. If the OP can't take off work, or have someone else be there, then he shouldn't of bought it in the first place. I think he has buyers remorse, and is trying to use this as an excuse to get a refund. ReptMart has done nothing wrong here, and they were doing everything to make it right, and then some.

This thread was totally uncalled for, and is just a way for the OP to stir up some crap. It's an abuse of the BOI, and should never of been started. Anyone who thinks ReptMart did something wrong is not thinking clearly. The emails even prove that they were working with him to correct the problem. He bought a snake, and that is what he should get, plain and simple. And then on top of it, he went to Paypal and filed a claim. That will stay in ReptMart's file at Paypal forever, and is a ding against them. Again totally uncalled for. The OP has only shown how immature he is, and how professional ReptMart is.

Really??
I scheduled a day off specifically for this shipment, you feel it's responsible to shedule another shipment in the middle of winter and have it left on the front porch? In what way does this mean I shouldn't buy an animal?

Buyer's remorse??
I have already replaced the animal locally, something i will do from now on.
You are a moron and are exactly why people see reptile breeders as scumbags, you are ruining the industry with your idiotic comments to the very people who spend their money with you.

The PayPal file is there for exactly this reason, had they dealt with me properly this would not have happenned. Again i say, You are a moron.

Don't judge all of us because of one mishap and a couple of opinions that differ from yours.

If you think this one experience spells out how the industry is as a whole, you are sadly mistaken.

The moron is you. You replaced it locally. You probably found it cheaper so getting the dead animal was your way out. It's called buyers remorse. You probably went and cried because you found it cheaper after you bought it from ReptMart. I'm not ruining anything by my comments. I am showing people what a rediculous customer you are. You are on my do not sell to list for sure. It's people like you, who give customers a bad name.

the op was there to take the day off work! the fact that they can't take another is not the op's fault. what are you saying that anytime you buy something off this site make sure you have atleast two vacation days? he was there when the dead animal arrived and thats that. why chance getting another dead animal. on top of that it was the wrong one. and how is it abuse of the boi? the boi is here to let the community know how a transaction is going or went. the op did just that. he provided actual e-mails between the seller and him self. he keep us posted on what the sitution was.
just because a company is big it should get a free ride? i understand that if you ship on there scale things will happen but for the op this is what happened to him. i see a lot of people here that have had good transactions with repmart thats fine but the op didn't he's not wrong for being upset.

wow i'll never buy from you. if the snake had come in alive and the right one then there would be no grounds for a refund right? well it didn't did it? for buyers remorse wouldn't you have to have what you bought?(the sanke you paid for alive) i dont know many people who wouldn't want there money back after something like this happens. i know i would. it sounds as if are in love with repmart. i hope you get commision!

That is the oldest excuse in the book. How do you know he took the day off, and how do you know he can't be there for another shipment. He found it cheaper somewhere else, and used this as an advantage to get his money back. Even if he can't be there, he could have it shipped to a friend, or family members house. If he went and bought one from another source rather than let the people he already bought one from make it right, he had buyers remorse. He didn't give them enough time before he posted this in the first place. Let him buy from Petco, they buy from the other company that's in the top two largest reptile dealers in ther country.

paul please don't knock the wonderful people here that are great people. sometimes things do happen with anything else in life. they did give you a refund and i think that speaks loud on how most of us conduct biz. they also offered you a few freebies and most of us would have jumped on that alone. the point is that most of us thrive only because of people like you who come here to get what they cant find local. if you look there are many great breeders with a awsome rep. not only in the quality of there animals but customer service as well. please think twice and don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch!;)

I contacted UPS and they told me that they do not ship snakes regardless of who you are. They said if someone is shipping snakes they could have their account suspended.

wow you assume alot!!and still miss the point that it was dead wrong. repmart f up. they were willing to make it right so there still good peps in my book. but the fact is the fact they messed up and need to make there customer happy. he wants his money give it back end of story. i mean it's only a 100 bucks. for a large breeder this is nothing to fix. as far as posting here on the boi it all worked out and now anyone that reads this will know that repmart stands behind there rep. and even if something goes wrong your safe.

I contacted UPS and they told me that they do not ship snakes regardless of who you are. They said if someone is shipping snakes they could have their account suspended.

That is exactly what they are going to tell you. They don't want every little guy calling them and saying, how come I can't if they can. I guarantee you, that some of the big reptile dealers are shipping snakes with UPS's approval.

OK, enough is enough. I seriously don't see what the big f'ing deal is here.
OP received the wrong snake and it was DOA to top it off. He is unable to get another day off to be home to receive the snake and requested a refund instead(on the 9th). 5 days later still no response at all from Reptmart even though prior to the request the refund they were responding within about an hour or so.
He posted the thread here and received a full refund shortly after. So I think the thread did it's job. Railing on him for posting the thread after 5 days of no contact after receiving the wrong snake DOA? Really?

I don't care who you are or how big your business is, if I have an issue like this and request a refund I expect at least a response acknowledging my request within no more than 1-2 business days at the most. 5 days and not even an email or phone call back? That's too long for any business. End of story.

Either way, it's done. The OP received his requested refund for the DOA.

why wouldn't they just say theres a min. what your moneys greener then mine? you make no sense and i'm done beating the horse. it's people like you that put the fear of buying live animals online.

Actually I do make sence. Reptmart probably ships over two million dollars worth of packages a year through UPS. So, I guess you could say that their money is greener. Some companies will cater to certain businesses just to get that money, even if it's something a small business can't do. If UPS stopped letting the big guys ship snakes, they would lose millions of dollars a year. They probably don't want to have to deal with all of the problems that are associated with the every day guy shipping snakes through them. That is just big business.

I used to buy shredded aspen form a huge animal products company for example. They won't sell to me now unless I have a 1000 dollar minimum order, and I have to have it deliverd somewhere, they won't even allow me to pick it up any more. I'm not going to say who that company is, but I'm sure others here will know who I'm talking about. They told me over the phone that they didn't want to mess with the small guy any more. And they are a huge company.

A business is in business to make money. The OP jumped in to an online purchase before doing research on the pro's and con's. ReptMart would probably of refunded his money any way. This thread was premature and really uncalled for. The dead snake cannot be blaimed on ReptMart. Who knows what happened to the package in shipping. A snake goes through hell while being shipped. ReptMart was going above and beyond to correct the problem. He found one cheaper somewhere else and used this as an excuse to get his money back. I think the OP should buy from Petco from now on. This way he will be able to have the animal in his hands when he buys it, and that will eliminate all of this from happening in the future.

To them, the dollar amount the larger companies are spending with them does probably effect there decision to allow them to ship and not us. BUT, they are also a large organization that does this every day, you don't hear about Reptmart, LLLreptile or a similiar company shipping a snake and it getting loose in the truck due to poor packaging etc etc. They are professional about it, everytime, no matter what. We individual's are the ones not packaging them right, cutting corners, trying to ship as cheap as possible to make a buck. That is why they can and we can't.

I agree! His post may have been a little premature, in our eyes, but in his eyes, they were putting him off as soon as he asked for the cash. This thread DID do its job. A resolution was meant, no blood spent. Lets just let it go.

That is a great post. If you look at what ruined shipping snakes through SYR's and whatever the other one was. It was poor packaging, animals getting loose, and all of the aggravation associated with it. The big reptile dealers are going above and beyond to make sure they are doing things the best they can. Their whole livelyhood depends on it. So, it's the small guy who ruined shipping snakes through UPS, not the big guy.
