Seeker of knowledge
I would like to start by thanking Ms. Hollander for a good chuckle.
“Repster knows how to blow smoke”, exactly sums up my thoughts when I read Ms. Love’s comments after her phone conversation with young. The best of con artists rely on their ability to verbally convince people and dislike committing anything in print that can be reviewed.
I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical of Mr. Young when the first thread appeared about his shipping plans on the Shipping Forum. When he refused to actually commit to exact details in print on this site, where he could not change what he had said, I decided to wait and see. I was the same way about 8 track tapes & their players.
He may or may not be offering a cheap easy way for people to ship who are to lazy to go through the Fed-Ex certification process, which requires very little, but I still have to wonder about the deal that seems to good to be true.
It was not long after the first post on the Shipping Forum that we started hearing of his inconsistencies. Then people had trouble making contact with Repster and the excuse for withdrawing the “Free Shipping Boxes” appeared. It is actually understandable that he would desire to stop supplying shipping boxes. If indeed he was being charged for a 3 pound shipment while charging his customers for a 5 pound package his profit margin was still pretty slim and the boxes would cut into that profit margin. Even more so if he actually has any investors wanting their cut.
Sadly for him, Mr. Young also agreed to purchase advertising with a couple of shows. This would cut further into his profit margin if he actually paid up as does his web site etc. He chose to ignore his obligations to at least two suppliers of advertising at least until his indescresions were made public, here on the BOI, and then he chose to pay for the advertising that actually provided physical evidence.
In the case of the other show, since he had received nothing physically tangible he decided he could get away with not paying anything despite the fact that advertising had been provided as promised.
Whether he verbally agreed to pay $2.50, $250, $750 or $7500, the fact remains that he actually paid $0.00, nothing. This is what makes him an undesirable in my book.
I cannot say at this point that I would not purchase from anyone using his service since I have not yet been in that situation but I have passed on a number of good deals when the seller insisted on using DHL who I detest.
I do know for certain I will not use his service to ship anything due to his display of irresponsible business ethics. I have also had to go back on a number of forums, where I recommended that people check out Mr. Young’s company, and post retractions.
