    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I had an adult male rock python get out on me once. I had gotten home very late from picking him up out of state, and hadnt had his cage set up to go yet. It was summer time and about 75 in the house, which isnt a problem for Rocks at night, so I left him in the bucket overnight until I could clean his new cage and set it up the following day. The bucket had two locks which were locked and I also placed 6 large pavers on top as some extra "security". The room was sealed, so there was no getting out. I woke up in the morning and walked in the snake room in my boxers and saw the bucket(see through) was empty withboth locks still locked and all the pavers still on it. No one else was home and this rock was very strong so I walked to my neighbors. He doesnt like snakes, but isnt afraid of them so I asked him to wait in the hallway while I looked around just in case. Well the room was only 10 x 12, but I could not find him. He wasnt in the closet or behind any cages, or anywhere. I looked for a couple hours to no avail. Later in the day I went in and just sat in the middle of the room on the floor trying to figure out what happened. I went to my dresser to open my bottom drawer for something and it wouldnt open. I pulled harder and heard the unmistakable rock hiss and the whole dresser lifted about 3 inches. I said son of a :censored: . The funny thing is is that he lifted the dresser(about 60 lbs, a 75 gallon tank, a small adult male burm, the pavers on his cage, and all the contents of the dresser up by himself and got under it. I was taken aback at how strong he was. Fortunately he was a doll and let me put him back in the bucket. It was crazy. Dan M.

Im actually thinkin about pickin up a nice lookin baby rock next weekend hes got a big stripe all the way down his back there isnt any breaka or nuthin in it and the sides have no pattern at all .I think im going to pick him up if the guy still has him.

Go for it if you can. Rocks are awesome, just limit the handling for a while. Rocks, especially baby rocks have short fuses for BS, so less seems to win the day with them. My babies only see me let alone get touched maybe twice a week to check their cages and change water and such. The patternless sees me everyday, but he is completely settled in I can do stuff in his cage and he doesnt even look my way. Right now he hasnt moved in days after the rabbit he had on monday, he is sooo happy its actually quite funny. He wont even hiss at me right now. It was a good sized rabbit for him. Anyways I think you will enjoy the rock as long as your willing to put up with the baby "moments". One of mine has a sweet move where it opens it's mouth and thrashes wildly in your hand and will bite anything it hits, which is funny and cute for now, but not so much later, rocks have big teeth. She has only gotten me once but she made it worth her time lol. Took lots of blood with her. Another one waits 24/7 at the edgeof the box and shoot out as soon as you open it and then does the thrashing move, but he holds on and coils when he bites, which makes it much less cute can the other one. Its annoying, but fortunately there aim is awful when they are doing that, so each of them has only gotten me once. None of my other rocks have bitten, they are all much more relaxed. Good luck, and post some pics if you get him! Dan M.

yea Ive been doing some research on rocks . what would u say would be satiable housing size for them? Do I keep him in a smaller tub to make him feel more secure or what ? The lashing out thing I'm very familiar with that lol i had a baby yellow anaconda that would just go crazy and bite onto everything his mouth hit . I feed my big tiger 2 nights ago a good sized rabbit and hes not moved since maybe just hungry and escaped to go find some food idk . I cant get enough of retics and burms there personalities are great ill bring the retics out in the yard and just let them roam and they don't seem to have a care in the world but when i take the balls out they don move at all Ive almost got rid of everything but a few balls I think I'm going to just focus on burms and retics . thanks for your help and time Dan i ask alot of ?.

As far as housing goes I dont think there is a straight forward answer. It all depends on the snake. My patternless is in a cage much too large with no hides whatsoever, and is doing great, then again I have had other rocks that did not do so well in large spaces. The best thing to do is start off small, and go bigger. Rocks, like balls are often found in burrows of sorts, or very heavy cover. Many of them will take advantage of hides and tighter spaces when offered. My 07 "baby" rocks(they are getting a little to big to be babies) are in shoebox sized boxes in a rack and are doing awesome. They eat well, all fairly calm, and adjusted. One will have to be moved soon as she is much bigger than the others and I am dreading that it will freak her out. She is sooo cool and chill that I hate to take the chance, but I think she will make the change nicely. She seems to take everything in stride. You will have to find what works best for individual rocks, but for the most part they seem to like some kind of security(except my patternless lol, he doesnt care). Dan M.

do you got any pics of your patternless i dont think i got to see him yet ? and as far as housing right now i think ill just put him in my boa phile rack and c how he does in there alot of cover in there so he wont stress on me

I do have pics of him, but I cant find the cable to connect my camera to the computer at the moment, so I cant upload them. There is a pic of him in my last thread about my rocks where I had pics of all the babies, its in here somewhere. Its a pic from Prehistoric. Dan M.
