    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

A few weeks ago I saw a Yellowhead Retic at Herpauction.com that was posted there by [email protected] as e-mail address. When I entered into the auction there was no minimum or reserve and there was a bid by someone of $100. I bid $102 after 2 of 5 days into the auction. At this time I requested a pic from the seller since I had no idea what the snake looked like that I was bidding on. I received this within a reasonable time frame and it looked great! I ended up winning the auction fare and square at $102 plus a shipping charge of $25. I then sent a check for full payment which was cashed and cleared by the seller. After no notice from the seller as to when he was going to ship I wrote him several times and was told the weather was a factor and he was waiting for things to warm up a bit in my area (New Hampshire). I thought this was reasonable so I waited a few weeks and finally was told on Friday 2/15 that he was going to ship Monday 2/18. I replied that this was fine just please send me the tracking number, etc. When Monday evening came and went with no shipping information provided I wrote him yesterday morning the following e-mail:

After my girlfriend waited nervously all day for a supposed shipment I finally received the following response late last night:

i wanted to tell you that i have sent you a check for the amount you paid because the retic is very sick i half to take him to the vet i do not sell sick animals  sorry for the problem

Nice huh? All of the sudden betwwen Friday and Monday the snake is so sick. Yeah, right!

I could tell from the start this guy was reluctant to actually send me the snake because I had won it for a decent price and I think he knew he could get more. I went to Herpauction to see the actual date I won the bid and low and behold there is absolutely NO RECORD THERE OF ME EVER HAVING WON! There was something placed there initially. Now it appears the whole thing never happened. I have a feeling he told the site that I never paid him so he'd get out of paying his lousy $5 fee and also because he never intended fulfill his end of the "legally binding agreement" to send me the snake that I'd won fare and square. I don't like people that agree to a deal and then completely back off from it in an underhanded way. I think this whole thing really sucks and if I were anyone reading this I'd say screw both Retic4ever and Herpauction. This guy places numerous retics for sale at their site and all I can say is what a joke. I'm very pissed off needless to say that I've wasted weeks waiting for something that was a lie and pipe dream.

Hey Greg , i unerstand how you gfeel  ude , but also look at it this wayyou got your $ back or well so you have been told you will get it ! and if he says the snake is sick i would feel lucky that he told you this info or he could have just possibly sent you a supposed sick snake for $102.00 or kept your money , i mean the fact that he told you the snake was sick and the fact that he says hes sending your$ back would be a lil comfort to me as for his dealings well thats hard to say but i would be greatful either way  no sick snak / and your cash back

To HallsHerps, I appeciate what you're saying but on Friday when he said he was going to ship the retic was fine and ready to go on Monday. In Friday's message he told me he was sorry for the delays but understood if I wanted my money back. I told him no I still wanted the snake and he said fine. It's obvious to me that he never wanted to send me the snake from the get go and this was his way out. And why did I dissappear from Herpaucyion's winners list? The whole thing stinks and you'll never see me bid on Herpauction again or do business with this clown.
To ReticDog I don't think they sell Yellowheads that cheap but I'll look into it. thanks for the tip.

I'm a little puzzled by your question. The Matrixninja70@aol is me! There's two positive comments on this board about me and there were many more but they were lost when the old BOI crashed as far as I know. Do you mean did I research Retics4ever and Herpauction? I remember reading a lot of negative information concerning the auction site but didn't see anything on the other guy. Can you be more specific? Is there something negative here about me? If there is I'm not aware of it.

i was not defending the fact the guy backed out on the deal .  ok im gonna try to type this like i would say it lol ,
ok seller A  has snake  buyer B  agrees on amount to buy  A's snake for . ok heres what im looking at

seller A:-  ill ship snake on mon  ok no problem weather has been bad and i wanted it to warm up .

Buyer - ok cool ill look forward to seein the snake Tues?

ok so now monday comes Buyer - calls  seller A  to confirm snake was shipped

seller A : well the snake is looking sick so i want to make sure its ok by either a vet or holding off to see if hes ok , now since hes lookin strange  if he goes to the vet and have him checked  are you willing to still purchase this animal  after vets results and the price of the vet visit, and if hes fine and able to ship upon payment for snake and proof of vet costs ill ship him right to asap  ?

NOW thats the offer i would have offered this all being based if the snake was really something wrong with it  because i personally as a buyer would rather be told hey theres a problem let me check it out and ill show you vets report on the snake and if you still want it its yours ok , because as a buyer is it not  the buyer responability to have ANY new animal checked by a vet to insure its healthy so thats my point there not bashing  you or anything please dont take it wrong but if the guy did it just cause he wants more $$$  and you see the same snake up for auction  or being sold by him then yeah thats realllly bad buisness on his part . and for as far as herp auction ..  well thats enuff to speek for its self havent been there in ages cause it was like the back allies  from peoples reviews lol
 
Well, it's been over a week since I copied and pasted the letter saying this guy sent me a check to cover the retic he never sent "because it was sick" and guess what??? NO CHECK!!! Wow, I never would have guessed that one. I'm still waiting, still believe this guy's not a deadbeat? The auction ended 2/10/02 and it's almnost a month later and I have zip to show for it. Well, another week has passed and you know how long it takes the mail to get here from Florida. After writing Ron Allen again about where payment was I received the following:

It is now Monday the 11th and I still haven't seen one cent well after this person stated he has sent me a refund TWICE. Is there anyone else out there that thinks this guy is not a joker and is in the right? I'd like to hear your explanation Ron Allen of where my money is after all of this time. I told you I would set the record straight when I was paid and still you choose to not do anything. You have my money now give it back or I will pursue this through legal means. Consider yourself warned.
 
As promised I'm happy to post here to set the record straight. I was reimbursed the $127 by Ron Allen today via Western Union. Everything is now resolved concerning this matter.
