my question is... why in the world, if she was planning on scamming... why bother to spend the money to send an empty box? I dont get that part.

scammers have done it before in an attempt to cover their butts, they think it gives proof that they sent something

Just read this whole thread plus the connecting thread from the victim, Renee.
Just a terrible,terrible thing to happen. This Candice person appears to be educated and have good verbal and communication skills-plus she can tell a tall tale with the best of them-so I started digging around (I'm a mental health worker-i dig!)and I believe that the victim, Renee was lucky that things did not get worse . Candice has a history of theft and incarceration and it appears to be escalating. Her narcasistic behavior in continuing to boast and play the victim on this very public thread is very worrisome and points to several conclusions and the one that keeps rearing its ugly head is that she may be a psychopath-and the difination of a psychopath is below :

No problem. I think it pretty much started as a way to scam someone and win with paypal. Since paypal just requires proof that something was sent to the customer.

Now in this case...I assume "Rhonda" was hoping no one would believe Jeromy when he said the box was empty

but that 1lb weight really got her.

I personally would pop down to your local police dept, and ask them how you should proceed. Get all the evidence here, and everything you have also....and get it organized.
They most certainly can direct you on what to do next.

Man the whole time im sitting there thinking you know shes right anyone can fake a photo but i wasnt i was just doing everything in my power to give all info i could.

Ok, after reading this thread.... I think she should've had her internet taken away from her too! Jeromy, I am sooooo sorry this happened to you. I truly hope you turn her in. I tried to give her multiple chances to do the right thing, she never did. Just stand up, trust in the MODs here, and know that she will get justice somehow, someday! Good luck to you!!!

She said she had shipped it insured, so maybe an insurance scam or just trying to cover all her bases for scamming her latest victim.

you need to make a report your local police and call her parole officer and make him aware. Give him the address to this and the other threads on her. She might even get some time this time. Any judge is gonna be really upset she was doing this AS she was concluding the other case. I'm pretty sure trying to defraud the government out of insurance money in an inter-state fraud case is a felony. She has earned it.

Hey Renee, crazy huh?! Candace sure pulled the wool over my eyes for a while...which gives me a creepy/nasty feeling. Yuck yuck yuck. She has got a screw lose unfortunately I don't think anything will ever change her behavior.

I wonder if she was referring to the idiots who caught her scamming more than once now or some other idiots?

Oddly, her information is becoming quite public.

I think she didn't report the weight because she didn't want to open herself up to mail fraud charges. She claimed a 1 pound box and sent a 1 pound box.

Real quick tonight and I have to go. She was bragging about the good deal she had on here before this transaction. Well, I'll it did was add to the evidence that it is Candace. The phone number "red.dragon.frog" used to complete that deal was out of Florida! Want to guess where? Yep, Santa Rosa, Panama City areas. 850 area code. She sent the payment from her claimed daughter-in-law. Guess what the claimed daughter-in laws first name is. Candace!
