Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ribbon snake regurge! Help!

I have 1.1 western ribbon snake juveniles housed in a 20-gallon long, with a basking spot of 80 degrees and plenty of places to hide. See the pic below:


I've added a backdrop to the outside of the tank since this pic was taken, to give them a little more security. They've been taking fish just fine until tonight. Earlier today I put several fish in the water bowl and they went to town like they always do. Tonight though, I found a fresh fish stuck to a partially digested one on one of the plants in my viv. I did note that one of the fish still in the water dish had a bite mark on its tail but is still swimming around. Is it possible that they just got overzealous and literally bit off more than they could chew? These were appropriately sized feeders. They've actually tackled much larger fish before with no problems. I've never had a regurge issue with snakes; I'm really concerned. I'm not sure which of my two ribbons did it, and I don't know what to do from here!
 
I put eight fish in the water dish - normally they leave a few untouched that they'll eat later. These fish are about twice the length of the snakes' heads, and not very fat. Maybe one of them just took on too many prey items at once. I hope that's the case; it's easy to remedy if that's the problem. They'll each usually take at least two fish, and they're each about 1.5 - 2 feet long. I don't handle these guys, so I know that's not the issue.
