    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Rich Goldzung from Reptile Basics

WOW,Rich has always been great,I have around 6 racks from Rich I ordered one and it was slightly damaged in shipping sent him a picture and he said great Ill send another one out right away,got the new one a few days later I asked if I wanted me to ship it back he said no just keep it and use it as a quarantine rack I was amazed still using it today.Yeah sometimes the draws sag and a few are tight but for the price they cant be beat.
 
I've purchased quite a bit from RB and never had a problem. Even when I've ordered hundreds of little nozzles, brackets, fittings, etc, they've all been accurately filled. He is very quick to respond and obviously, willing to work to make one happy.
 
Rich at ReptileBasics.com is a great guy and bends over backwards to keep his customers happy. I recently bought a rack which he brought to the White Plains show for me. I asked him to bring a few extra locking pegs (white plastic) and he said he forgot them which is understandable since I called as he was packing for the show. I told him not to worry.

Several days after the show I recieved a package in the mail from Rich which contained a BAG full of those white pegs - no charge.

When I need something reptile or rodent related I go to Reptile Basics first. I own several RBI racks, some purchased new and some purchased used. I'm happy with all of them.

The OP is just another in a long line of people who will likely never be pleased no matter what a seller does for them.

Reptile Basics is a great company. I've ordered from rich several times and still will. GREAT customer service and products..
 
I have 5 total racks from Reptile basics and have never had anything but stellar service.

As reflected by others here, there are certainly always better racks available. If you pay for a Ford and expect a Lambo, you are surely in for disappointment.

The service itself has always been great though and the red x was certainly not warranted at all ESPECIALLY after what he offered.
 
I bought an MCB-S rack , not flimsy at all, I'm very pleased with it. I also bought two thermostats, and several custom lengths of heat tape with connectors and cords, which Rich assembles free upon request. These were different orders placed at different times and always fast, quality service. Plus, he answers or promptly returns phone calls.
 
I've been doing business with Rich for over 10 years, since back when he had a brick and mortar store and I drove a couple of hours to pick up some dwarf monitors. .
I've purchased live animals from him as well as cages, thermostats, misting systems, rodent watering supplies, and other miscellaneous dry goods.

I've never had anything but the very best in customer service, and prompt delivery. If everyone in the herp industry did business like Rich we wouldn't need a BOI.
The OP, in my opinion completely jumped the gun in posting this thread and is definitely someone I would not desire to do business with myself.

To the OP: In case I forget your name, and I most likely will, if you see an ad from me for something you're interested in, please don't respond to it.
 
Had a GREAT experience with RB!

Just ordered a UTH and RHP from Rich at RB, and I would HIGHLY recommend anyone do the same for any and all of your reptile needs! Great service, fair pricing, and quick shipping. Here's a big KUDOS to Rich and Reptile Basics for excellent customer service! :thumbsup:

Rich has fantastic customer service. I bought a Johnson Control thermostat from him, and a few months later I suspected the power strip of malfunctioning. He had me ship it back to him and replaced it and shipped it back free of charge. He's also called me in case some of my shipping information didn't line up on another order I'd placed. I also ended up with one of his racks second hand and it was in excellent condition and had held up to previous use fine.
 
WOW. I have been buying from Rich for the last few years and have not 1 complaint about his products,service or shipping/. We have several of his ve theromstats and a mile of heat tape and several other products. lol. All his tape is still working just great after a few years.
This guy is top notch with his business and i will continue to spend my $$ with him.

Been doing business with rich for years and you can not beat his customer service. Always a good product and fair prices. One of the very few people who go out of his way for his customers. Will continue to do business for years to come!!
 
While I echo all the positive things written here about Rich ... bottom line is he has this negative thread. I think ... or at least hope the op is truly sorry, but it would appear as others have stated, he just wanted a deal ... or he'd have sent the rack back that he so hated. I have several racks from RBI and yards of heat tape wired by them and never a problem or complaint .. in fact I bought one rack used at a reptile show and Rich mailed me pegs for it FREE .. no charge at all, not even postage!
In closing, I hope when Rich reads all the support and positive things people have to say about him, he'll know there are plenty of us repeat customers who will continue to do business with him ... and many new if they read beyond the intial op post that will do likewise.
 
I have only owned one rack and I got it from RBI. I also made a mistake in my order and not only did Rich rectify it, he gave me a deal. As I said before I've only owned one rack so I can't compare to others, but I'm happy with the rack I got and as far as customer service goes, it was beyond great.

Rich is a good guy and works with you. :)
