Has anyone had any bad experiences with this pet store? I had gone in and bought some mice for my boas and when i had dethawed the mice, i had noticed that there were cuts in the neck and the guts of the mice were falling out of the stomachs. When i had saw this, i did not want to feed this to my snakes and had went back down to the pet store to show Rick (owner of Pet Safari) what i had bought and asked him if he could trade them out and he said that it wasn't his problem and he was going to do nothing about it. I seriously have never bought any mice that were as gross as these were. I care about my collection and don't want to feed them anything that does not look healthy. I am really upset that this guy did nothing to make what i had bought from him right! I ended up having to eat the money that i had paid for the mice and never got to feed my snakes because of the condition that the mice were in! I have never experience such poor customer service, lack of care and interests from any other business!

I have heard of Pet safari but never been there. How did the mice look before you thawed them? How did you thaw them? warm water or HOT. Sometimes when you over thaw/cook a rodent the stomach will fall out or burst when the snake is constricting.

Good point Micah.. This is very true.. Your cheaper/unkept rodents will have this kinda problem way more often than those organic rats everyone talks about. lol. Justin, our snakes are ONLY what we feed them.. Kudos for trashin them and the guy who didn't do anything about it.. Grab some more from him and get some pics up for giggles.. I guess it doesn't matter all that much on the cheaper stuff, but boy doesn't it become a factor when your feeding something that costs as much as some cars!! Oouuch.. Just food for thought. lol..

How were the mice thawed out? If they were thawed out in hot water then this would have cooked the skin causing the skin to bust open and all the guts fall out.

Not defending the petstore just adding some insite.

I had thawed the mice in lukewarm water. Ive been breading boas for 8 year, I do know the dangers of thawing them out in hot water. The mice actually had cuts on the neck too. I know that if they have been thawed before and then frozen again, this can cause the guts to come out too. Makes me wonder if the mice i got had been frozen and then thawed and then frozen again before i purchased them..

the guts were comming out as i was thawing so non of my snakes got to any of the rodents to contstrict. The guts had already came out after thawing.

Good assumption.....

I would have speculated the same thing Justin. Buy a couple more or look at them first.....They would not be crisp and white.....But dingy looking...

I havent been to this shop but i have heard about it. My advice would be to stay away from this store. I dont hear good things about Rick from quite a few people.
