Has anyone done business with them? Good/bad?

Hi,

I have not done business with them but I have been to their store in Nashua. They seem pretty up and up, with a decent store and good looking, healthy animals.

However, I would make sure to find out what kind of shipping they use. I say that only because, while running a search for them awhile back online to find their phone number, I came across a post on some animal rights website saying that they had been busted in the past for shipping snakes using an unapproved carrier. I think this was awhile ago, however, and they may likely have changed their policy. I don't know.

Sorry this wasn't too helpful; hope you can find some better info.

I have done business with them back in Febuary I purchased a male albino ball from them Rob told me he weighed 400+ grams when I received him he was 127 grams and came in at 58 degrees I called Rob and he told me that Kevin at Nerd told him that it was close to 400 grams which I dont believe that Kevin would make a mistake like that and his shipping was terrible there was one 8 hour heat pack with no styro lined box and he was supposed to send me 3 ready to breed females he only put one in with the male he told me that the other two just ate so he couldnt send them and when he shipped out the other two they were clearly wild caught with ticks I when I called him about all of this he said that I was getting such a good deal on the male albino 2000.00 that I should be happy with everything needless to say that was after calling his shop for a week with all his employes telling me he wasnt there I ended up keeping the male and one female and sent the othertwo females back he did refund my money for the other two girls but after me bugging him for about a week. that was my only dealings with him.

please save yourself time and money and do not deal with Rob or his company, he talks a big game and does not follow through. I have had one issue where I ordered a large lot of tortoises with a guarantee from him that he would take half the lot making it well worth my while to make the deal, when the animals came in he decide he would not stick to his end of the bargain and told me to drive the animals to him when he had already agreed to pick up, as the above post read I also got the run around and sass from his employees seem they do his dirty work when he screws up. I am not the only one unhappy with him, I have heard many complaints not only from people I know but from other dealers. One person got a dead caiman from him that looked as though it had been frozen cut up and than de thawed again and shipped I do have picks if anyone is interested. Rob is probably the most dishonest person I have ever dealt with in the herp industry and many people agree I would not hesitate to tell anyone to stay far away and if you have any questions please email me at [email protected] or post it so everyone can see what I problem rob and his company is to the herp industry thanks

Did he insinuate to you that he had acquired the albino ball from NERD?

Just curious...since he didn't.

Kara/kevin My post is the one above about the problems with rob and not the albino ball but as i see the post it seems rob did say it came from you, but that is just my take on the post?? also just out of intrested when i had my problem with rob he also mentiond he is very good friends and buys and sells to you frequently please let me know if you guys are friends with rob associated with rob and what your fellings on him and his buisness is thanks chris

I think everyone can see that rj is a problem in the buisness and a bunch of us have been screwed by him excuse my language, i plan to possibly get the other people who had issues with him to post up here and explain there problems such as not showing up with promised fedders not buying animals he promised he whould making false claims sending a dead caimen among other animals, and Being a complete lier all togather

Wow -- sounds like they are a lot slimier than they seem. I've only bought cage cleaner from them in the past -- think I'll avoid even buying THAT from them in the future.

...And if they said they were "close" to NERD . . . Maybe they meant "about a half hour away." Because they are that. (I first found RJ's while getting LOST on my way to NERD).

yes indeed they are very close i have been to both places and known both of theme for about 3 years not close with either kevin or rob but have done buisness with both, i can say that kevin is a staright forward buisness man and have always had ok experinces with him. On the other hand everyone on this post knows what and how i fell about Rob the scammer

There was a girl in one of my classes at college with an RJ's shirt on. I asked her if she worked there and she said that she had, for a bit. I mentioned that I kept a number of snakes and she seemed unsure of what a blood python was. She did mention that RJ threw some great parties -- in a tone implying that that was mainly what stood out in her mind about the whole experience.

Long story short, I had been dealing with rob for over a year, never had any problems until, over the summer I brought up a pair of my retics to him.He was going to pat $1800 for them, once I got there he did not have that money anymore and said he was going to give me $1800 in animals instead. He did not have enough animals that I wanted at the time so I took a green tree python and a green anaconda, (that he swore were perfectly healthy and feeding) with the promise that when he got more in he would give me the rest. Within a week the green anaconda defecated once and lost half it's body weight and refused to eat, developed blisters all over it's body(despite being in a dry cage with a small water dish) The green tree couldn't shed on it's own despite being in terraium with 100% humidy and had several layers of eyecaps. Within 2 weeks I brought them back to him at a reptile show and he told me I managed to ruin these snakes in the 2 weeks I had them but promised to replace the anaconda if I brought it back to his shop, that he couldn't do it at the show, and that he would give me the rest of the animals that he owed me for the trade.
I went to his store the very next week and he said he didn't owe me anything, he didn't know what I was talking about and if I was lucky he would replace the anaconda. After hours of trying to talk to him at his shop he said the only thing he was willing to do was "fix" the green tree python, replace the anaconda and send me $300 cash. According to him those 2 animals and $300 = $1000 and that was all he owed me. But he refused to give me any of the animals he already had there that were worth that amount of money, and refused to give me back my retics, even though I brought him back his green tree and anaconda corpse.
I had no choice but to leave with his promise that he would send me the snakes and the money.
Months of being told he wasn't there on the phone and rude email correspondance from him, a box showed up on my dorrstep with the same green tree python, with eyecaps still attached to it, a scrub python, and instead of $300 a baby super tiger retic that was skinny, covered in blisters and stuck shed. 2 days later the retic was dead.
I emailed him and he replied, I do not know how to care for reptiles I need a new hobby, depite the fact that he has bought several animals from me in the past year that I have bred myself, never with any complaints.
Of course he has no problem displaying the adult tiger retics that I raised on his website!
So I emailed him that he needs to replace the retic, or I'd bring the corpse to his shop and he emailed me back to stop threatening him, and that if I showed up he would call the police on me. I have a signed receipt from him stating that he owed me and adult green tree, an anaconda and $300. I also have the opening of the box he sent me filmed showing the condition of the snakes when I received them. { which by the way were shipped with used cricket box heating packs that were no longer working}
I am attaching a picture of the retic, you can see the blisters.
At this point I am way beyond dissatisfied. Not only has he refused to honor our original deal, now he won't even honor the low grade deal that he came up with instead.

Now as to the earlier post about the albino ball....... I know for a fact that he DID NOT get the from NERD. I was at the white plains show when he bought it cheap from a dealer because it was not feeding. He actually bragged to me about getting it cheap.
In short STAY AWAY FROM RJ's Exotics!!!!!

I am sorrey to say this but knowing rj and his animals quality and customer satisfaction rate that snake does not suprise me on bit, Maybe someday with all these pissed customers hell get in trouble or have a issue hopefully people read this post and realize doing buisness with him is a waste of time money and effort rj again is a jerk and a embaresment to the exotic pet trade

Wow it looks like my dealings with Rob wasnt the only bad deals going on I actually seen Rob for the first time a couple of weeks ago at the Hamburg PA show his animals were not in the best healthI remember seeing a 5 foot granite burm on his table for 400. at first I thought it was a good deal but then seen the bubbles it had comeing out of its nostrils just goes to show some things never change. Best bet stay clear from RJs and there not so healthy animals. Paul

my dealings with rjs

its unfortunate that im hearing all this about rjs, ive known him since hes opened his store and hes always been good to me with all the animals ive purchased from him and his overall attitude. just to list a couple of animals he sold me are a 1.1 pair mexican milks about 2 years ago ,he gave me a real good deal on and told me they were already cycled and just to feed and they will produce eggs, a couple of months later they produced a healthy clutch, and they are still alive and healthy today being cycled. and i bought a frilly hatchling about 6 months ago whitch is groing at an awsome rate, its energetic and very healthy. if all this is indead true i would really like to see him straiten out so he can be around longer. just thought id put in my experience with rjs
