    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

After using crickets and meal worms for years, they get kind of lame. Some of you use roaches and I know even Cody Breeds them. Can you guys point me to a good roach seller?

When you have some for sale, cody, Ill go straight to you. ;)

I’ll let you know Austin. Those sites that Aaron said are excellent places to get some at. You can also browse the classifieds because sometimes there are people getting just rid of colonies or they’re too swamped and are letting some go.

I just picked up FREE discoid and lobsters this way 3 species now for me :dgrin:

I need to jump on the roach bandwagon..... Any one have any nonglassclimbers??? Cody???

I need to thin out my Lobster roaches. I am trying to raise Discoids but they are not as prolific as my Lobsters...

If anyone needs Lobsters let me know!

lobster roaches the best way to go for leopard geckos?
Depends. Some really like them and some don’t. Since they climb they have to be fed more carefully and can’t be running around the tank… unless it’s escape proof. You’d have to either hand feed, pinch them, or feed out of a dish with Crisco around the top.

also what is "bugstop" and where can you get it?
Butstop is a Teflon based product that is slick so the roaches can’t grip it. You put that around the top and when they run up to it they won’t go past it. They stopped making this last year but there are other products out there to use. I just use Crisco which is vegetable cooking grease. It works great.

You do need some Gregg. They are the best! My largest animals are all feeding on roaches. I currently keep 2 non–climbers, orange heads and discoids but I don’t have for sale yet. The discoids are fairly new and are still multiplying. I’m letting the orange head colony get really big and I mean really big. I’m shooting for several thousand breeding adults. :D

Lobsters would be the perfect leo roach if only they didnt climb. They multiply like crazy and they're the perfect size. But the climbing aspect is a pain. I'm also trying discoids, but my colony seems to have taken a vow of celebacy. But others seem to do well breeding discoids. I'm getting a batch of orange spotted today, maybe I'll have better luck with them than the discoids.

... i think ill just ship the whole damn bin they are in LOL

key is to kep them fairly warm... we keep our in the room with the beardies and because of the higher temps they do better but you have to make sure they have moisture like nanners, oranges, squash, carrots... some form of moisture... honestly though once you get them good and started... you can let em go without food or water for a while and i swear your colony will double in size!! ..... i mean they have survived EVERYTHING since the begining of time... couple weeks ignoring them dont hurt :hehe:

Would anyone happen to know

How high can temps go for roaches before they stop or reduce breeding or maybe even die off from it?

Blaptica dubia (a.k.a. Guyana orange spotted roach)
anyone have a caresheet for them? I think I'm going to see about getting them as well as the lobster roach

ive been waiting for this thread so which is more nutritious roaches or mealies?
do you feed primarily roaches?
and do you feed your leos the adults (i imagine them with hard shells)
im always willing to try a better feeder and these seem to be the ticket

I taped a 1 foot section of heat tape to the bottom of my roach bins and keep them hooked up to a rheostat, it's working great so far. I have pretty good colony of lobster's thats growing rapidly and caught my discoids breeding the other day, hopefully i'll have babies in there soon.

I am not sure about the highest temperature roaches can stand. I keep them in the herp room (about 90+) on top of the lights in the cages. I would guess any hotter than 110 and the smell from the wastes would start to get bad. Mold would also probably start getting bad! Keep them between 85 - 95 ideally.
